Is there anything wrong with piercings?

I have long wanted to get a septum piercing and stretch it a bit.

The infection risk will be insignificant if I clean it properly. I plan to keep the ring in the piercing only at nights and when I'm home, so it doesn't hinder witnessing or cause others to stumble.

What do you think?

What do you think?

What benefits do you imagine from this?
How will this procedure help you or others?
It sounds like you have a desire to "be bad".
What is the source of this desire?

I like the way they look. I know they're a bit weird, but it only adds to my appearance if I don't go too far. Also the process of getting and stretching it could be exciting and fun.

People do judge by appearances, and to purposely work at
screening those people out of your life reduces your options.
Some popular people have talent that compensates for
the loss.

This is why I said I must not go too far. I won't ever get facial tattoos and haven't even considered getting stcratches or whatever those are. That's just disgusting!

Actually that giant nose hole looked good if it was in his earlobes and a small piercing or two in the face don't really ruin it.

I am still considering whether my motives to get a piercing are good, as with tattoos etc. I'm not sure whether it's good to care for your appearance so much, but it's a bit tempting.

So it's fine if people find you disgusting, like you just voiced?

I said I won't get anything I or most people find disgusting. And I just realized that I wanted a piercing just because I'm obsessed with my appearance, which is lust of the eyes and certainly sinful. I decided I won't get any body modifications, and rightly so!

Well first off, think about why you are wanting this. Now some people say that its wrong to get piercings, because your body is the holy temple of God, as it says in the Bible. Now then why do girls get ear-rings? Well tbh it got me thinking. For what I can say applying the Bible, is what are your intentions behind getting that piercing? Is it to glorify God? If its not for God I wouldn't consider it.

Post # 2 has a rather extreme example of a piercing.

Post # 8 seems to include all piercings everywhere - including earrings - as somehow suspect.

Even the Bible mentions earrings; and in Ezekiel 16.12 the Lord Himself gives Zion a nose ring.

These days both men and women get earrings and tattoos, for that matter. In moderation I think they are personal preferences that are rather harmless.

The bible tells us to do everything in moderation...the extreme some have gone with piercings and even tattoos is not healthy and furthermore suggests and addiction to it. This is bondage to a spirit that controls your flesh driving it to go beyond what is modest and within reason. Furthermore, the more holes you have in your body the more areas bacteria and skin cancer and skin diseases have to enter. God gave us skin as our outer layer of protection against infection and disease with things we come in contact with everyday. I have already seen people with their earlobes surgically removed due to hoops gone bad, others with half a nose, then others with mouth and skin cancer. This is not wisdom...what ever you decide to do pray about it and seek God's Wisdom on the matter.

I think it's clear that piercings are allowed unless of course they cause other Christians to stumble in their faith or are extreme like in post 4. Therefore you're right, the motive is what I should consider. In my opinion some piercings look very good and that would be my motive. But I fear I'd spend my days admiring my piercings in the mirror, which is not allowed by the Bible lol.

Except if you think some tattoos look so good that you lust after them and become proud and haughty when you get them. That may sound weird but it's what could really happen if I got them.

As I said in the first post, the risk of infection is so small that it can be ignored if you clean the piercing carefully every day. The inside of the piercing grows skin too, so eventually it's not a wound anymore.

The problem is that most of my relatives are conservative and hate piercings, at least the septum I guess.

If you are at peace with it then it isn't a sin. At least you came here seeking advice, that shows wisdom!

Thanks.

If I got piercings they would be on my earlobes and I would stretch them to around 10 mm. I think they would look really good but I think I will survive without piercings:D Because my relatives and friends don't really like them and it's about 50/50 for me, I won't probably get them.

Some plugs actually look like chunky studs; it's not until you look at the backing that you see sometimes that they are plugs rather than traditional ear studs.
