They got a thread here for gamers, but I don't see one for CG artists or game programmers (not complaining). So I figured if there were any I'd (hopefully) find them here. I just want to know how many out there make games. I myself am an aspiring CG artist (go visit cgsociety.org if you don't know what that is).

So how many of you out there actually are involved with making games or even just programming, or 2D, or 3D art in general?

The reason I ask is I thought a lot of you might be interested in the site, 3DBuzz.com
It's a place for people interested in games, programming, CGI and other stuff.

I figured since there are probably some hardcore gamers on here that maybe, just maybe some of them would like to learn how to make games. So I'm recommending this site to anyone interested.

If you are speaking of a Christian game development group, there was one, ran for years, but they just closed their doors late last year over the constant DDOS attacks and thus being dropped by every single hosting service they signed up with (not that they were impressive hosts). That was the story at least, but I think it was also (or more to do with) on account that the community forum system they used was incredibly buggy, and they got tired of trying to fix it and were unwilling to just convert it over to something that worked like Simple Machines or Vbul. I suppose that would have been a tremendous job considering all the MySQL tables that would have needed to been dropped or programmed into the new forum system. It too had it's own share of trolls of course though, but not as bad as some OTHER sites..

As for here, it is a wasteland. But I don’t want to bring that up again. There are a few devs I know of that visit this forum, but rarely now. You can visit my weblog if you like, it should still be linked from my profile here somewhere. I haven’t updated it yet this year but once, I’m still in the process of hitting my next milestone. Probably will have an update in a couple months, and a preliminary release soon after.

eh yeah, I have a 3dbuzz account, among others.

I'm supposed to be doing sound design for my friends who are making a game on the XNA. Other than that, I don't really do much with making games. I'd rather write things or make music instead of doing all that crafting, I suppose.

My boyfriend does freelance developing for Nintendo and 3rd parties. He's worked on Golden Sun and a few other titles. He's developed the R4-DS and Easy Flash 3 in 1.

I'm trying to land a job in concept art and character design. But I still have college.

If you're looking into character design 3DBuzz could probably help you out. They've got some videos on concept art & there're some really talented photoshop artists on that site. You might try looking into their ADP class to help you out with character design as well. But yeah, way to go, going to college (too many people don't), college drawing classes sure helped me to better understand drawing.

I am doing some work with a group called jellyphant. I don't remember the web address but it comes up the first one if you type jellyphant into google.

We are getting close to releasing our first demo.

Sounds neat. What work did you do? Do you have any screen shots?

That look's pretty cool. I take it you've got some kind of adventure game going on there. What softwares did you use? Langues? Have you ever wanted to creat games that could be played on your XBOX360? It looks like you're way more dedicated that most. You have no idea how many times I see a thread from some newbie saying they want to make a game. They start off with no plan, no assest...nothing. Then they want to make it a group project over the internet and you know where they get? Nowhere. So you've DEFINATELY started and are on your way. You've alread come way farther than most by just MAKING a game.

If you would ever like to learn to take your game making to the next level and start creating games that can be played on PC's AND XBOX/XBOX360's then I would highly reccommened you take a look at the XBA class from 3DBuzz. There's LOADS of free content that you can watch before you buy to see if the class would be something you'd be interested in.

I've just finished my first year in Uni studying Computer Games Programming. We've started off at the very beginning (not everyone had previous programming experience), and have been using C# and XNA Game Studio 2.0

It has been absolutely great! I started to program in Python and I created a small text based RPG. Nothing fancy, basically a silly little adventure game where you battled endless hordes of monsters with magic and weapons. For my first real attempt at programming I think it came off quite well. You had a working inventory with usable items (both offensive and defensive), weapons, armor, spells (which could be easily added to by non-programmers). There was some kind of menu system for outside of battles and one for inside of battles. I had saving and loading down pretty well, but it was just reading and writing to a text file. I think I have a copy of it around on an old hard disk if anyone was interested in taking a look.

Right now I am getting my XNA skills up to a decent level so I can re-program it as 2D adventure game complete with story! Bit of a task but it should be fun. I'm also trying my hand at writing up what I have learnt for non-programmers. There was some parts I really stumbled at (mainly pointers in C++) and thought others might have a problem with it too.

Hmm reading that back, I seem quite proud of myself don't I. Didn't mean to make it sound like that honest, haha. Some of the stuff I've seen the second years doing makes my apps look like "Hello World"

Sorry if this was a tl;dr.
