  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm not exactly a mathematician (as in, that's not something I absolutely love..) but my engineering courses took me through Calculus 3, differential equations, and some understanding of linear algebra, particularly dealing with matrices. I haven't worked with statistics since high school, though.. so it depends on what kind of math..

What do you want to talk about?

Oh, and if you want some math fun.. look up "Klein Four" and watch their performance of "Finite Simple Group (of Order Two)". Absolutely full of math puns! :)

Were it not for "the other", that would work. Of course, it would require a portion of math-illiterate people to care about their illiteracy. This is quite possible.

But in any case..
There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who know binary and those who don't. :)

I know quite a few math jokes.

I think it's neat that you can estimate the value of pi by dropping needles on to a surface with evenly spaced lines. The idea that the circumferance of a circle is somehow related to the chances of a needle landing on a line is amazing to me.

The Mandlebrot set blows my mind.

This also blows my mind -> e^(pi*i) + 1 = 0
