Is there a wrong way to pray?

So if you told us your prayers are not always answered, if at all, would that be from humility? I've seen people on the forums almost brag about being a wretched sinner. Should we call ourselves sinners, or sons and daughters of God. Does truth matter? If you say you are a follower of Christ, is that bragging? If you affirm that the scriptures are true, is that a sin?

Matthew 6 is clear that we are to pray behind closed doors. It is something we should not boast in doing. Read Matthew 6 several times in prayer.
We... Denotes there can be more then one behind that door

Ad hominems is not biblical proof of what you say is true. The Bible is where I got my faith, and it is how I build my faith. If it is not in the Bible, I strive not to partake of it.
Do you actually do faith ?
I mean ya know..do you lay hands on the sick?
Or does one hide behind thier closed door so they dont bave to do any actual work if faith.

Let’s please address the topic at hand with Scripture.
Sure.. Your looking at the letter of it.
Not the spirit of it
The spirit of the words of Jesus is about the motive of ones heart when it comes to prayer.
The way you take it in the letter would mean if your poor and dont have a room with a closet, you can never pray..

So its silly to say thats what he meant.
It misses the spirit of his words.

In the book of acts they ALL gathered im one place praying "Aloud"..

In another place they were all gathered in s house praying for peters release from prison.
"Aloud"
How are we to let every word we speak edify (build up)faith in the hearer? By bearing testimony to the faithfullness of God.
Not by keeping silent because "YOU" dont want to boast ..thats the epitome of false humility.

I am not interested in extra biblical accounts. I am only interested in biblical support for the practice. For me: If it is not in Scripture, it does not exist.
If there are no extra biblical accounts..that is evidence that there is no practice of that which is happening.
One leads to the other.

If a person cannot testify of the reality of the power of God in thier life. Its a pretty big indication they dont have the reality of the power of God in thier life...

The Bible testifies of a believer’s fruit, but this is a part of the faith that we have in God’s Word that He gave us.

Angels do not rejoice when a miracle is done. For it does not cost God anything to do a miracle. But it cost God the Father’s Son with his blood being spilled to save us. This why angels rejoice over when one sinner that repents.

You are misquoting 2 Corinthians 3:6.

“Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.” (2 Corinthians 3:6).

Paul was talking about himself and the apostles. They were made ministers by the Spirit and not by the Torah (which is the letter that kills because if one murdered, they themselves could be killed as a part of the Law). Surely they were not speaking against or referring to the written record of the gospels, Acts, the apostles’ instructional letters, etc.

Matthew 6:6 was not just about motivation. Jesus actually tells us to pray in privacy behind closed doors. Jesus never says that we can pray so as to be seen by many as long as our heart is in the right place.

I used to believe that prayer was a simple static prayer to God.

But I have come to realize that a prayer is simply you having a conversation with your Father who is in Heaven. Of course this isn't exactly like a conversation you would have with a friend. You are expressing to God all your struggles, questions, and praises to Him. There is no one way to do this.

Of course, if you are praying to God in a disrespectful way then that is not the way to pray.

Praying to our Father shouldn't be a static prayer, because it is easy to fall into the pit of thinking it is because of how you pray that makes you better (works based salvation).

Rather it is not the prayer itself, but about God and yourself. As I said before, all you really are having is a conversation with God (for lack of better words).

Is someone writing out their prayers here for all to see, or just testifying that God's Word on answering prayer is true and through the Spirit can be 100%?

I sense you are in a very bad place today, and bound in some battle of the spirit. I'll pray for you tonight. Good night dear brother.

You still think faith is some mystical undefinable thing you have?

Faith is to actually DO what Gods says because you truly believe him.
Faith is the action of obedience-..to be a doer of the word. As a result of believing it.
..anything else is disobedience.
That, is why "without faith it is impossible to pkease God"

Jason has left this thread, and probably won't be back. That is just what he does. Just let the Spirit work on him. He's in a bad place. Can't you sense that? None of our business what the cause is, just pray for him.

You were loosely quoting from that verse (Whether you realized it or not). Many say this statement and they use that verse out of context. Yes, there is a spiritual meaning behind Scripture that many do not get, but this is not the expense of what the text actually says. How can Christ's endorsement to pray behind closed doors be true, if we can also pray out in public openly like the religious (at that time) be true? For they pray so as to be seen by men. So that is why they pray in public. Jesus says to avoid this, pray in secret so that you may be rewarded openly.

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).
The Word of God (is both the Living Word (Jesus) and the Communicated Word).
The communicated Word is the Bible.
This is how we derive our faith.
Without the Bible, we would have no faith.

Sorry, I disagree with you. I am not in a bad place at all. I am at peace with the Lord. I am standing on a more sure Word. The Bible. I do not seek to do anything on a spiritual level that is outside of His Word (the Scriptures).

How you believe in Sola Scriptura is like an unused cookbook.

God is a great chef, and has put all his recipes into a wonderful cookbook, then when it is published, says now put my book on the shelf and don't try cooking any of the dishes. You are done eating, and I'm on vacation. Spiritually, that person is just skin and bones with no substance, let alone power from nutrition from eating the recipes. That is a Cessationist.

Yes, I am a 99.9% Cessationist; Well, I prefer the term "Partial Cessationist" because I believe the gifts have partially ceased. I believe the working of miracles have partially ceased. For I believe God works gifts and miracles today. I just have not witnessed with my own two eyes these miracles or gifts as operating in any Charismatic churches personally. Most of the time, bad doctrine like the prosperity gospel rules them out in being genuine to begin with (among other bad doctrines and beliefs). But are there select individuals out there or some group in a jungle doing the works of God like the early apostles? Maybe. I don't know. I surely don't want to speak against God (Just in case I am wrong). But what I have seen and heard in the majority of the Charismatic movement is not of God or biblical.

And I am in the same covenant as those of the first century - the Church. It is alive and well and not 99.9% dead, and teaching others the same unbelief.

I have seen miracles and by experience know the signs of Mark 16:16-18 and 1 Corinthians 12 are true, and have all of Mark 16's and the first 6 of 1 Corinthians 12. And so do my closest friends, because they are also100% spiritually alive.
