Is there a way to get an Orthodox mission started closer to my area?

Hi everyone. The nearest Orthodox church to my town is about 100 miles away. How can I go about trying to get an Orthodox mission started in my area for those who may be interested? Should I get a petition started or something and submit it to my Orthodox diocese?

Contacting the nearest priest would certainly help.

In some areas, a church was started when somebody found all their local Orthodox-in-the-closet, got together, called a priest, and went from there. From what I've heard, they began with a monthly or bimonthly visit from a priest and eventually became missions.

My own parish was on the verge of extinction and would have monthly visits from the nearest priest who was about fifty miles away.
