I don't know Rev...you made a big deal that it's how you receive the bread when it's distributed by an elder. You kinda made it sound like somehow it was bad for you to get the bread in the mouth when it's an elder.

We were just wondering why it's a personal preference, that's all.

Then tell me why you think I would re-consecrate a host that has already been consecrated?

Because the ordained is the one specifically given the authority to administer the Sacrament. The Body anf Christ is to be distributed by the called and ordained pastor. A lay assistant can give the cup only after the ordained has admitted one to the table by giving the host.

This is what Rev said. To me he is saying that he received it from the ordained on the tongue as the ordained are to administer the Sacrament.

He also states in a subsequent post that it is the Pastor to admit to the table, not the laity.

He nowhere says he would consecrate it another time. A Pastor has already consecrated the elements, why would he need to do it again when he receives it?

Tangible and I were only wondering why he would take it in his hand when it's offered by an elder versus by tongue when it's not. I simply offered up a question. I did not say Rev re-consecrated it. I ASKED.

Obviously, the answer is no, which is all he had to say the first time around.

I still do not understand why he prefers by hand when it's an elder and by mouth when it's not. For some reason, it matters to him. If he cares to explain that, great, otherwise it will just remain "his preference" and a mystery.

That was an interesting read. I always receive with my right palm and then transfer to my left hand. I've never given it a thought. Well at least until now.
