has anyone heard of m theory (this may be a stupid question)

I saw this documentary on it, p-branes and all that. seemed pretty crazy, but the doco was saying that it solves equations that were formerly unsolvable

That's the so called "new new superstring theory", right?

I voted No.

So far we can see some 15 billion light-years into 'space' if there would be actual water at the outskirts the next question would be how it is held together. Sure we have no clue, but it seems irrational for anything to be present except 'nothing'.

Also Hydrogen is plentiful, oxygen is not. :)

I think that it would be a hard theory to prove. Look at this, not all planets have h2o in any form. What would make it likely that the incredibly immense mass and size of the universe would be surrounded by this substance? I, myself, am absolutely fascinated by whether or not something is beyond it. Here are some other 'possibilities': It repeats itself, and if you 'pass' the limits you end up on the beggining of the side behind you who KNOWS how many light years away. almost like you are going in a circle. Maybe there are invisible 'walls' that since it consists of nothing, neither time nor mass, cannot be 'penetrated'. Maybe if you tried passing these 'walls' you would get trapped yet not exist anymore at the same time. Maybe there are other dimensions. We are in third demension. maybe out of this universe is the fourth, then fifth, and inside ours is the second, and first (dont ask me what it would be, perhaps the spiritual world?). Perhaps it never ends, even though it is beyond human capacity to comprehend the infinite expanse that this offers. There are so many awesome possibilities, and they are in fact endless.

I do not hold any of these as my view. I accept them all as possibilities though, in fact because of the brain racking nature of this subject I cannot favor any view as my top at all.

The water view as described above. Perhaps it IS true. What is beyond the water?

I said no... because if the universe is expanding (as scientists say it is)... that would mean that the amount of water on the outside would have to increase at even a greater rate. Now also... if there were so much water out there... why can't we find another planet that has stable water in liquid form (not ice like Mars)? It would be much more common to find a planet as such if water were like everywhere else in my opinion.
