  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is the U.N. retarded??

UN holds urgent session on Israel's blockade of Gaza-bound ships
The UN Security Council held an emergency session late Wednesday to discuss a Libyan complaint over Israel's refusal to allow a Libyan ship carrying humanitarian aid to dock in Gaza. Israel blocked the vessel on Monday, citing security concerns pertaining to possible weapons smuggling, while adding that Libya is a hostile state to Israel. Tripoli charged that Israel was committing an act of "piracy on the high seas," but Council members refused to take any action. Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Gabriella Shalev, used the opportunity to launched a fiery rebuke, calling the emergency session a "cheap trick.” Shalev went on to note that if Libya was genuinely intent on transporting humanitarian aid to Gaza, it could have done so through accepted channels.

Is the U.N stupid enough to bring on Armageddon??

Israel making plans to attack Iran without US assent
IDF would have to operate without flight access codes

IAF-Refueling-Web.jpg
In drawing up contingency plans for possible pre-emptive air strikes on Iran’s renegade nuclear facilities, Israeli officials have decided to also prepare for having to launch the long-range missions without critical flight codes to allow access thru American-controlled Iraqi airspace.

In a Jerusalem Post exclusive on Thursday, Israeli defense officials revealed they would prefer to act in consultation with Washington but are preparing a myriad of options that would allow them to launch an operation single-handedly.

US security officials were quick to downplay the reports, saying that a bombing run by Israeli forces acting alone would probably fail to take out all of the Iranian regime's nuclear facilities, many of which are buried deep underground and scattered throughout the country.

"We could not risk an operation which would only partially succeed," according to a US defense official, "That would leave us open to an attack from Iran's remaining weapons stock. Israel would likely need the support, the backing, of forces from a Western ally to successfully carry out the operation," he said.

Israeli officials, however, said that it would be difficult, but not impossible, to launch a strike absent US support, including the American airspace codes needed to overfly Iraq.

Jerusalem asked for the codes in 1991 during the First Gulf War, but Washington declined. Several news agencies have claimed that US President George Bush has refused to give Israel a green light for an attack on Iranian facilities, the latest turndown coming during his visit in May of this year.

In what may have been a consolation prize, Washington deployed the state-of-the-art X-band radar in Israel, along with a 120 person team to operate the complicated system designed to shave crucial minutes off Jerusalem's reaction time in the event of an Iranian attack.

It is impossible for a international inter-governmental body to be mentally retarded.

Mental retardation is an attribute of individuals.

I am thinking of such an individual right now.

Can a Governmental body be made up of a majority group of retarded individuals making the body as a whole basically retarded?? ;)

It would be extremely difficult, but America made great strides in doing this over the last 8 years by voting for G. W. Bush, a man who probably fits the description of mental retardation closer than any previous incumbent, even Gerald Ford.

But sadly by passing over Sarah Palin it looks like the American experiment in governmental retardation has floundered.

It was noble while it lasted

The UN is a joke. The US needs to get out of the UN and throw the UN out of the US.

I know it is unlikely to happen but hope springs eternal. LOL

The retarded organization of the U.N. will have a good obedient representative in our new President...hahahaha

Yea Bush is smart enough to know we are stuck with the evil U.N.

Oh, it's much worse than that. For eight years, President Bush has pretty much fawned upon the U.N. like some obedient lackey boy. Bush has never missed an opportunity to raise a toast in honor of the organization, which, according to Bush, is "a great institution" and "an important body". Nor does Bush ever miss an opportunity to sing praises how the U.N. is "a great organization with extraordinary potential"; how the efforts of the United Nations are "just as vital as ever", or even, "needed more urgently than ever"; how "the world needs the members of the United Nations to stand together" to help the organization to "spread hope and liberty to people around the globe"; how the United States of America is "committed" to stand by the United Nations; how the United States and the United Nations share the deepest commitments; how his country is proud and "honored to be the home of the United Nations", and how "the United States is grateful to the U.N. and respects the men and women of the U.N."

And on and on it goes.

And then Bush keeps issueing those presidential proclamations in honor of this "United Nations Day" that the United States of America just keeps celebrating year after year. Makes me wonder if Bush is actually afraid the U.N. would come and invade the U.S. should Bush stopped singing those silly praises for the U.N.

Well he is a politician and probably he is doing in in case we have to take out Iran or help Israel by giving them the fly over codes so they can cross Iraqi airspace to bomb Irans evil nuke program.

Bush asked the U.N. to help him bomb those Iraqis and invade, occupy and destroy their country, and the U.N. refused. Surely not even Bush can be so naive as to keep kissing the U.N.'s behind in vain hopes that the U.N. would suddenly ride to his rescue and help him wreck yet another country and turn it into another state-wide terrorist training camp?

So for eight years, Bush has been kissing and licking the boots of U.N. like a sad beggar. And for what? According to you, because of Iran's alleged "evil" nuke program that some Americans believe is there! When the IAEA says the agency has been able to continue to verify the non-diversion of declared nuclear material in Iran and has not detected any actual nuclear weapons related activities in Iran.

If Bush loved to raise toastes to the U.N., fine, but in the very least, he could have stopped issueing those silly "United Nations Day" proclamations year after year after year. I mean, does any other president in the world fawn upon the United Nations by issueing some sort of "preseidential proclamations" to honor the world body? I know mine sure doesn't.

Well the US started the UN, but unfortunately conservatives like yourself are only happy when it acts as America's own international kangaroo court.

You can't have your cake and eat it too, so figure out what you want.
