Listen, pray to god first before asking man and he will help you find the answer. Truth me there were times where I take other advice and it didn't work out well. So pray and ask god before us because we human. Many have different views but God's view never changes s don't listen to anyone until you hear from god. Ask for something simple if it is a sin.

I'm not going to say yes or no. Just because it's about witches doesn't mean it's satanic (Harry Potter...really). The cast are good witches and they have a guardian "angel" following them around (whitelighter). As with anything, it's all about intent.

I also don't think it's necessarily "occultic" or dangerous, but I'm not saying it's NOT, either. It's a fun, popular show, BUT you need to examine the content as well. It's about witchcraft, demons, and other things we know aren't pleasing to God. But as Aibrean pointed out above, so is Harry Potter, and heck, one of my favorite shows is The Walking Dead, which is all about the "undead" and is a horrifically gory show (though I close my eyes for that stuff, I don't watch it for the shock factor). Could I technically say that TWD is an "evil" show? I suppose so. Do I think God is angry with me for watching it? I don't feel convicted over it. It's really easy to fall into excessive legalism in our quest to "do what's right". But in the end, we need to remember that God desires our hearts, not mindless obedience or excessive sacrifice. If your spirit feels uneasy about some action that you previously felt OK about, examine it and decide if you need to cut it out of your life. It may not be the same scenario for the person next to you. Some right's and wrong's are absolute (do not murder, etc), but others are a matter of conscience, depending on that person's particular walk with God, the people they influence, etc.

Lots of these shows are not necissarily flat out satanic. However a better question is

Is this edifying to God? Could I be watching something better? Is it wise for me to watch this show?

I myself still fail to pass this test at times, but I have gotten a lot more picky about what I watch now, versus what I used to watch.

I watched this show before I gave my life to Christ.

There is no such thing as a good witch. There are only two sources of power - God and Satan. God does not give us the power to cast spells, etc. There is also no way an angel from heaven would have an affair with a witch, as that whitelighter did. Also, didn't one of the witches fall in love with a demon? This show (And Harry Potter) are definitely satanic.

I don't let my kids anywhere around Harry Potter, or Twilight, or any of that crud.

Which is your decision to make.

Apparently though, there are many of us that don't find it to be crud, nor
have we been convicted of watching it. I know that there is no such thing as the spells that they cats on Charmed, Harry Potter, and I absolutely know that Vampires and Werewolves do not exist. That doesn't stop me from finding these shows as entertainment and nothing more.

With the above said, I did hear something interesting on Moody Bible Radio this morning. It was a program this morning talking about Nebuchadnezzar in the book of Daniel. He went on to mention that Nebuchadnezzar took on Lycanthrope qualities after God addled his mind.

Lycanthropy is apparently a rare psychiatric syndrome.

Here is a page that details what I am talking about:

A Werewolf in the Bible? | RevDanTheMan.com

I found this interesting and figured I would share it.

In reality, no there isn't. This is television. Make believe fiction. If you think television shows and movies like that are real you have issues.

A whitelighter isn't an angel. I used quotes. They are like guardian angels because they watch over their charges. Phoebe didn't know she was dating a demon and even he turned from his wickedness. I haven't watched the show in decades but I remember at least that.

What do you think about The Lord of the Rings? No good wizards? Narnia is full of magic too.

To me it doesn't matter whether a witch is good, bad...etc. Witches are witches and the occult is the occult. A show can try to dress it up otherwise but in the end I wouldn't watch it. Does this mean others shouldn't? Well I can't force my opinion on anyone. I just feel weird about watching shows 100% about witchcraft.

And at the same time I watch (and am ok) with lord of the rings. I guess I just am against witches simply because we knew one who converted to being a christian and she said never make light of witches because they are very real. Theres a movie called Beautiful Creatures out now. I know lots of christian girls that love it despite the fact its 110% about witchcraft.

If that's your case, then I guess the answer is yes, cause I wouldn't watch any of those or recommend any christian watch any of those either.

Psalm 101:3,4 "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person." KJV

Ephesians 5:6-13 “Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth; Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.” KJV

Satan has always been the basis for real witchcraft - not the women who doctored people, and who some mixed up with witches. But many, if not most, witches are to one extent or another involved in the occult.

Even if they don't know it, they are playing around with Satan. Where does that power come from? Either God or Satan. There is no power but those two - and Satan only has the power that God has temporarily granted him.

The characters on Charmed cast spells, make potions, etc. These are aspects of witchcraft.

Same with Harry Potter.

Things like Tolkien I have never liked, and Star Trek/Wars is not magic, but futuristic science. Big difference. (I don't like those either, just saying)

Things like bewitched and I dream of Jeannie softened America up, so that they wouldn't consider witchcraft and familiar spirits so bad.

Anyone who says, "Aw, it's only ________" has fallen into the trap. Yeah. It's only fiction. It's only make believe. It's only TV.

But you can say the same thing about the Mortal Kombat movies and games, The slasher movies, and the hate music screaming out of kids' headsets, too. Until some kid with a mental illness shoots up a school.

Then it's "Take away the guns," totally ignoring the fact that the open availability of satanism, violence, drugs and other such crap is what's causing our nation to be self-destructing.

Oh. Sorry, off my soapbox now.

I enjoy charmed. But my mom, who is a devout Christian, says that it is Satanic. I am a Christian as well, and I don't want to watch anything that is Satanic.

I am sure "Charmed" will have depictions of humans doing supernatural acts: levitation, teleportation, shapeshifting, etc. A rule my teacher espouses and I agree with is:

If a supernatural act is depicted, the source of that power must be the Lord Jesus Christ, otherwise it is Satanic. If a person or a cartoon character is attributed to having god-like powers, it is Satanic with common examples being Harry Potter, Pokemon, any of the cartoons on tv that depict supernatural acts events or powers.

So the Road Runner, Tom & Jerry, ect is now Satanic. :sigh:

If a supernatural act is depicted in fiction, God and Satan don't even need to "exist". Fiction is capable of creating a completely different world with its own religions and rules. Seems like you can't get past what fiction is.

Shakespeare must have been a satanist by your logic. I guess me too since I write fiction where there are mages.
