Is the super-natural anti-Christian?

Many people have claimed to have seen their dead relatives, either by happenstance, or by going to a psychic. I read somewhere in a Christian leaflet that these meetings were actually demons impersonating dead relatives, to confuse humans. I also read that Clairvoyants and people into Magic are going against God's will.

I know that many Christians have gone to psychics to meet their dead relatives. Have they sinned because of that?

Is it a sin to listen to Foretellers, Clairvoyants, Psychics and the likes? Is what they see a lie, Satan trying to manipulate them?

BTW, I'm not Christian, I'm just very curious about what you people feel about this.

Well as far as it being real? I'm sure it is. Yes deamons are tricky things. they do whatever it takes to decieve people. As far as it being a sin. I'd say it is.

just some reading...http://www.blueletterbible.org/tmp_dir/choice/1028363958.html

and this verse seems pretty clear

Lev 19:26 ...neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.

I dont believe in such nonsense. The power to see the dead, the future, etc. does not ly in the hands of a mortal. Those who calim to have seen dead relatives either set it up, are just plain lieing for publicity, or mistook another person who is similiar to ones dead relavtives to be the same person. Its all abunch of bologna. I seriously doubt its the work of demons, lol. Honestly people, you shouldnt believe in such things. And no, going to a pyschic or a medium in search of connecting with the dead is not sin, its just stupid.

There is too many stories of Jesus driving out demons in the new testament to just assume it's all fake.

Luke 10:17 - 20

Luk 10:17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

Luk 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Luk 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Luk 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

So yes, Demons are real, but they are not anything to be preoccupied with. It is far more important to be preoccupied with understanding who God is and who His Son is.

Yes, it is a sin. God's instruction is to keep clear from these practices and from those that practice them. Here is what the Bible says:

Deut. 18:10-12

There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you.

Lev. 19:31

Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.

Malachi 3:5

And I will come near you for judgement;
I will be a swift witness
Against sorcerers . . .

Lev. 20:6

And the person who turns to mediums and familiar spirits, to prostitute himself with them, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from his people.

I know from personal experience that playing with things like that is both real and extremely dangerous, when I was at my senior school (for americans that means age 11-18) there was a period where a lot of girls were experimenting with oijah boards and levitation and the like, they began to get very very scared - they began to see pictures of devils on the white boards and the suchlike. - they came running to the Christian union for help. our Religious education teacher showed us a video about people who have become posessed by demons thru such activity and have had dangerous encounters through trying to contact the dead - this wasnt a christian school but the message that was given was that the only way to be freed from such things was through the power of Jesus' name.

If it didn't come from God, then it was the devil's work. As Christians, we should look towards God instead of other ways... that are especially questionable. Speaking to the dead is clearly a work of Satan, the bible tells us that the dead and the living realms cannot be mixed. A dead man cannot go back to the living realm, as seen in the story about Lazarus and the rich man, and in revelation, where all the dead have been lying asleep and will rise up in the end times.
