I can now instead of wasting my time watching TV, except for the Walking Dead of Course. Best show ever besides Firefly.

Then I'll have to check that show out.

I do not know about any other self but my self is eternal as it had no discernible beginning and has no discernible ending. There was never a time when i did not exist and I cannot imagine that there will never be a time when I cease to exist.

Um, kewl?

Do you think that your personal past is infinite? Or do you think that it is bounded, but with "no discernible beginning", meaning something different than an infinite past?

And why do you think this? Are you suggesting that you are not a creation of God, and having something of a divine nature? Or what?

YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY?!

No, I don't watch much regular television anymore. I just have Swedish Netflix right now. I'll have to dig through it to see if they carry that show.

I do not know about any other self but my self

I would hope so.

as it had no discernible beginning

How about birth? You were born right?

and has no discernible ending.

How about death? You're mortal like the rest of us I assume.

There was never a time when i did not exist

You were around in 1789? Tell me what the food was like.

and I cannot imagine that there will never be a time when I cease to exist.

That double negative bothers me. And yes there will be, but you won't know it because well yea. I understand what you're actually saying, that you have only known you as long as you've been around and never a time before you, but there's flaws in that thinking.

I recommend a tube site for that; that's how I watch any show now because my tv tuner is bad. Also netflix is slooooow getting episodes. The show is on break right now. I can PM you a link to one.

I think that the fact that some have been discovered living normally without a brain shows that the brain is not the self.

I think there's some cases where the brain was severely diminished...but what remained compensated for much of what was missing. Living "normally" sounds a little subjective.

The brain is pretty remarkable and not entirely understood. There have been cases where comparatively little damage has severely crippled a person and comparatively large damage left little lasting effect on a person.

It's not up for debate where the "self" resides though. Monkey head transplants were done in the past during the early years of organ transplants and the brain unequivocally contains the self.

I think you'll like it. It's not a show about zombies, it's a show about Human beings and their strengths and weaknesses which happens to be set in a zombie apocalypse. And Firefly is all about the individual against the collective, which is probably why it was cancelled after one season. Great story, fantastic photography, interesting characters but a message that I think Hollywood couldn't stomach.

Oh, stuff it.

All that he said is that he loves his life and that he enjoys his hobbies and interests. I wouldn't be surprised if you have hobbies and favorite television shows as well. There's no need to browbeat somewhat over that.

All's he said my giddy aunt. The sadness is the doctrines of Godlessness that you and the Scotsmen are dedicated to. Browbeat?? I really do find it sad but self absorbed people may not even understand that.

Just don't do what I did and stay up all night watching the whole season in one session. Also Have you seen the World's Fastest Indian? What a wonderful movie and just brimming with Objectivist themes. I have to admit that movie made me cry and I don't cry easy. Just magnificent.

Not dedicated to godlessness. Godlessness is a trivial issue. I'm dedicated to reason Colter, something you find to be over rated.

Incidentally, have you seen the movie The World's Fastest Indian. If you want to see the Objectivist concept of rational self interest and happiness made concrete, you'll see it by the end of the movie.

You were being insensitive. You preach Christian love, but you don't know how to show it.

I found it on Swedish Netflix, and watched the first episode. It's good! There is some great acting, and poignant moments. I will be watching more. There are three seasons available at the moment.

It's not the personality that changes, for instance that persons friends or family may recognize their personality even if the trauma has left that person without memories of their life experiences.
Can you define this "personality", if you know that it doesn't change?
