Yes, that's who I meant. I was working through the windows in a specific Cambridge college, and I was taking Augustine of Hippo as a stand-in for the early Church.

Oh, okay. I'm not sure he's someone Anglicans hang on to as a marker of identity in the same way as
Tyndale or Cranmer, but fair enough.

From where I'm standing, it certainly looks like you are in a de facto schism.

Put it this way. I'm in the process of transitioning from one parish (and, as it happens, from one diocese) to another. The only comment most people have made on that is "I hope you're not going to Sydney!"

As if Sydney would have me, anyway...

I was taking him not as a marker of uniqueness, but as a marker of the early Church.

And it was a very specific Cambridge College.
