  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is the Holy Spirit omnipresent in sheol?

is the person of the Holy Spirit omnipresent everywhere? for example, is the Holy Spirit omnipresent within the righteous and the wicked? within animals, plants and rocks? within heaven and hell? or is the Holy Spirit only half-present? location-specific? not everywhere at once? only in some places but not in others? is it the Holy Spirit who animates the physical part of a human being? is it the Holy Spirit who holds the molecules of a human being's body together?

i'm differentiating between 'omnipresence' (being everywhere existant at once), 'omnipotent' (being all-powerful) and 'omniscient' (being all-knowing). i'm not only suggesting that God can be everywhere at once, but that he is everywhere at once. always has been and always will be. not just sometimes.

-

i tend to believe that there are temporary holding places for righteous and wicked souls (departed human beings) prior to the endtime physical resurrections of the bodies of the righteous and the wicked. either some type of purgatory or sheol or dreamscape where souls sleep and dream together.

i've sometimes had afterlife contacts with my deceased mother, and she seems to be residing in some dreamscape realm where all of the disembodied souls dream together in a joint dream. i've seemingly met my mother there on occasions that last only a few seconds long each time. not so frequent anymore though. this may or may not be consistent with the bible or orthodox theology.

why would the Holy Spirit be present in the wicked? Is that what you got from anything God Almighty Himself said about the indwelling of the Holy Spirit? It is written, quite clearly, in His Word.

Sheol isn't hell, brinny.

To answer the OP's question: yes.

To answer the OP's question: yes.

you possibly mis-read, mis-understood my response. To get back to my response, it is stated in God Almighty's Word, the holy Spirit does not dwell in the wicked.

I stand corrected; my apologies.

:) i'm proceeding from the assumption that the Holy Spirit is 'omnipresent'. is this not the case?

being omnipresent does not mean abiding in someone. He is abiding in the children of God only.

God is omnispresent in Sheol

Psalm 139

8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, [a] you are there.
