  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is the geologic column real?

The order of the fossils in the alleged "geologic column" is probably the strongest piece of evidence that evolutionists have at their disposal. It is regularly alleged that evolution explains the order of the fossils better than a global flood and therefore evolution must be true.

The idea that the geologic column is a result of The Flood
is the fantasy of Christians. The Bible does not cover the topic
of geologic sedimentarianism. :)

Do you think anyone would read it if it did? It's like those who would argue that the Bible teaches the sun revolves around the earth. The truth is there simply is no astronomy in the Bible, nothing you could mistake for a scientific discussion. Which actually makes sense, since science as we know it wasn't invented until the seventeenth century. They called it the Scientific Revolution and it turned science up side down, it grew up along side the political philosophy that would become American democracy. That turned government up side down as well.

Grace and peace,
Mark

I agree it would be an error to say the bible teaches that the sun goes around the earth. You are right to say there is nothing like a scientific discussion in the bible. It does, however, assume, that the sun moves across the sky.
And why would it not? It takes a scientific discussion to go beyond the appearance that the sun moves while the earth stands still.
