As Jesus was on the cross, He said "Father Forgive them they know not what they do."

Judas had just hung himself. Now I don't know where Judas has ended up, but it was one thing I read that had to make me think about the awesome power of God's Mercy. His Mercy is more powerful than we can imagine. God extends out mercy in ways we can never know on Earth. His power to forgive and offer us Grace is truly amazing. I am sure you have seen it in work. So you can understand when I say I would not put any of my limits upon it.

Your friend doesn't have the gift of prophecy. If he had the gift of prophecy, then what he said would line up with scripture.

When we stand before God, Flip Wilson will not be there saying, "the Devil made me do it!"

((and, by the way, for the reasons I listed in my previous post, I am not talking about those who are driven by one reason or another to commit suicide.))

You need to pray for your friend and talk to him about this. You may even need to go over the basics of the Gospel with him.

CF rules prohibit me from questioning his salvation and, indeed, I don't know him or enough about him to do so, anyway. But it is clear that he has a complete misunderstanding of sin and you cannot truly repent before God without understanding the horror of your sin, the utter contemptuousness that our sin shows to the Holy and Righteous God of the Universe.

Without that knowledge of sin, one cannot truly repent. Without true, heartfelt, Biblical repentance, one cannot be saved.

This is your chance to reach out and be a real friend to your friend.

Actually it was a guy I met a couple of times with a friend of mine and based on all he said I still believe him. I do apologize I had you confused with another poster. But basically what he said was when we choose to believe a lie of the devil we sin. And that still is true. We choose to believe the devil not God, when we sin. If you will read of the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness. Basically Jesus was told a bunch of lies(what else would you call what the devil said to him, partial and twisted truths are still lies). Jesus did not choose to believe those lies because He not only knew the truth, He was the Truth.

Greetings all ,

The fact that satan and his lies has a part in the sins of humanity is clear .

" Surely you won't die ".

Is was what the devil told Eve in the Garden of Eden . Satan suggested that we could ignore God's Instruction and do contrary to It , and still escape the consequence of death .

And his voice is still reverberating around the planet today - asserting that disobedience to God is of little or no consequence .

But what does Jesus say ?

For Grace and Truth comes to us through Him .

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. <-----> Matthew 7:21

For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother. <-----> Mark 3:35

Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. <-----> Luke 13:24

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

So while satan is still trying to tell folks that they can continue in sin with impunity ; Jesus has warned us in no uncertain terms that we cannot , but will indeed suffer the Wrath of God , except we believe unto repentance .

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
<-----> 1st Corinthians 6:9-11

Note : how last verse says , " such were some of you " , [ past tense ]

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

Note again : in last verse , " ye were sometimes darkness " , [ once again - past tense ]

For there is no respect of persons with God.

We cannot continue in sin and escape severe consequence ; it is through Christ , and His Holy Spirit delivering us from the blindness which indifferently accomodates sin , ( as though it doesn't make much difference whether we follow God's Instruction or not ), for by seeing and perceiving , and hearing and understanding The Truth of God's Word , we are delivered from the deadly influence of a lying , fallen arch angel and his cohorts . To the saving of our souls , The Praise of Christ , and The Glory of God . Amen .

May The Lord's Will be Done .
