  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is predestination about the destination or about the path to it?

I think you are all missing the point. Paul said, should the clay talk back to the potter? No, it shouldn't. That means God's judgements are just in having shaped us the way we are.
In case you missed it I'm good with God being in total control. What believer doesn't believe that? If they don't they were caused not to by God in any case

Well, the question is does predestination only deal with the end point (destination) or with the means of getting to it?
If you understand or agree with predestination, there is no means. Entirely in God's Own Hands.

IF God didn't want a world full of partial sighted and unbelieving people, He could clear all that up in about the time it took to strike a man down on the road to Damascus, against the will of that man, or everyone else

The real question is: Why the slow roll?

The purpose of time itself is so "that no one should perish", for when the time is up, then no longer are the wicked. Therefore these are the "days of man", under the cover of the Covering angel.

I can appreciate the verbiage employed

We know Satan has a "short time."

Mankind has "times" or multiple generations

Satan has had one long generation, singular

Time
Times
The dividing of time

The debate between Protestants regarding predestination has persisted for nearly five centuries, with neither side conceding. Each believes they have scriptural backing. This dichotomy likely extends to Christian forums, where some argue for free will while others argue for the bondage of the will, each supported by numerous scriptural verses and interpretations. The question remains: Is it the final destination that is predestined, leaving the path open to free will choices, or is the path itself predestined, allowing no deviation by free will until the final destination is reached?
Everything thing, even in the details, is predetermined.

If this weren't the case, then it was very coincidental for Jesus to appear in the way he did and fulfill many of the passages of the Old Testament as they stated in reference to him. He coincidentally came at the right time and fulfilled his mission without fail to the very end.

Every moment you breathed was predetermined, and every step your foot took was already planned. It is from ignorance of it that the illusion of free-will seems real.
