numbs you to the real effects and consequences of real shooting

Prepares is a better word than "numbs" ... in the military, they go through training and preparation, not anesthesia.

Actually FPS games can provide a certain level of intellectual stimulation.

It requires timing and mental reflexes to be able to shoot and scoot without getting hit. Judging distance, physics, resource management, hand-eye coordination, all of these can be taught by an FPS and all are required skills if your going to be good.

Don't even try... it's point and click, man.

While some people exagerate the positive aspects of gaming out of all proportion, "point and click" isn't exactly true.

If you feel you need proof, consider which is harder:
Clicking on this full stop . or;
Shooting a moving opponent half way across the map with a sniper rifle on Halo.

Though Farenheit is better than any FPS out on the market anyway :p

Look people. It's just a game. Killing characters doesn't mean anything...it is NOT REAL. I love the games where I get to run over pedestrians or commit random acts of violence. It is funny. Would I ever do these things in real life? Hell no. Rational people would not. Only unstable people get any violent ideas from video games.

You need to be able to have resource management skills to avoid running out of ammunition in a fire-fight.

In most FPS, you get more than enough ammunition...
If you're referring to reloading, that's just another button. So excuse me, point, click, reload.

And for the record, I am wearing this shirt as I type this:

Guns don't kill people. Kids who play video games kill people.

I'll say that too, and I'm not female :p.

You're certainly using parts of your brain playing FPS's, but I'd have to say its nothing special. To simplify things a bit, it is certainly no trouble for me to drive a car for 3 hours (not much physical activity, but hand/eye, physics, etc) but very difficult to play one (or several) games of chess for the same length of time.

Looks like I'm good at throwing my voice...
I'm not condemning anything. If you see in my profile...

I play video games. In fact, that's what I'm going to go do as soon as I finish responding to all the topics I want to see... I like to debate, and play video games... not much else. But you're BSing yourself if you think they "can provide a certain level of intellectual stimulation"

And the shirt is hilarious because... it's intended to be. If you don't get that, visit this url.

For the record, I'm also vegetarian (though I wasn't always), and I know nothing about how a lamb tastes.

It is these games that get people unstabled. Some poeple get inlfuenced by these games and end up doing what they learned, in these video games, is right. But that only works on those weak in faith and weak-minded.

Can you prove it?

It's ridiculous to try to prove something in the negative (that it does not take skill)... we went over this.

I can certainly try though, by giving you an example of the types of people who play FPS.

That's a fair example of little brats that play video games. It's the mother's damn fault. She let the kid have a mountain dew before she was going to bed, and didn't say "NO." or assert her bloody authority in any way.

That kid is going to have a hard time growing up, and probably won't. He'll probably get a good job, and I'll be the person working off his pension.

I hate the bourgeoisie.

I don't have any faith, but I've never killed anyone and I play *alot* of video games.

You don't play video games, do you?

The incidents you hear about on the news? The ones that "prove" that video games cause people to kill people? Those are exceptions to the factual generalization that video games don't cause people to kill people.

Back in the dark ages, people didn't have video games. They had the Bible, and not much else.

Were they better off? No, actually they were more violent than we are, especially since it takes more to put an axe through someone's head, someone that you probably traded some bushels for some pigs with yesterday, than it does to pull a trigger. And many of the games out there focus on killing things that are either
A) approvable for movies that we Christians watch without a problem, such as Nazis (Wolfenstien)
B) not real, like zombies (Doom), robots (Quake 4), and monsters

Grand theft auto, might, just might, be stronger evidence for your arguement. But the kind of behavior that game supposedly encourages has been around before the game.

Video games were developed less than 60 years ago, and didn't come into the public for half that time, and didn't become popular or as violent as they are now until the 90s. People have been killing each other good long while before that.

You arguement is bullocks.
