Is not warning someone they're sinning a sin?

James 5:19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

Is not warning someone they're sinning a sin? Is there any clear Bible passage on that? Thx
It is productive when it is done in humility, knowing that we could fall quite easily if the Holy Spirit stops supporting and protecting us.

There are times when you should. However, there's also this, which is true:

"Let a man meet a she-bear robbed of her cubs rather than a fool in his folly." - Proverbs 17:12

Sometimes that means you're going to have to pay the price for doing the right thing. Other times, it's more appropriate to not make it your business. If you ever do warn someone that they are sinning, make sure you've thoroughly looked into the matter - it is foolish to accuse someone of sinning before you have found out the whole truth of what they are doing, only to have that truth brought out to shame you when you play God's policeman. Verify first, then make your claim.

There are ways of approaching a person whom you see is sinning. A couple of good examples have been where a pastor has had a word of knowledge about two men who were sinning and needed to be approached. The first was a word of knowledge that a particular elder was having an extra marital affair. Confronting him directly would have damaged the guy's marriage and the church and the guy may have left altogether. The pastor asked the Lord for wisdom and the Lord told him to say, "I believe that Jesus wants you to increase your faithfulness to your wife and family." Upon that the elder broke down and confessed, and was able to receive ministry which saved him, his family, and the church from harm.

The next word of knowledge was for a man who had a porn addiction. Again the pastor asked for wisdom, and Lord said, "Tell him that Jesus has made him totally clean by His grace." Again, the man broke down, received ministry, and said that he had wanted to be clean for a long time and now after ministry feels clean for the first time in a long time.

I think that when a brother sins, it is good to ask the Lord for a word of wisdom on how to approach that brother. When the Lord gives that word of wisdom, there can be amazing results!
