I've been thinking about it and, as we all know, the apostles who wrote much of the new testament were not God. Does this mean that it is a sin to go against what they write in the new testament?

I can understand perfectly how violating one of the ten commandments is a sin, those were handed directly from God himself to Moses. But I can't recall Jesus saying a lot of things that the apostles say that we shouldn't do. Cursing, for example.

If Jesus laid down a rule I would have no problem following it. But should I be holding up what apostles say as if it was what God says?

But Moses wrote Exodus - which is the same as Paul writing 2 Timothy 3:16

"All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness"

Somtimes paul said, in his own opinion, in that case no.

Isn't not cursing the third commandment?or am I misunderstanding you?

I assume you mean "Thou shalt not use the Lord's name in vain". And no, I don't see how that says we shouldn't curse (unless, of course, you use the Lord's name in vain).

Anyway, I guess I had been looking at what the apostles had written as just a letter from one church to another, not necessarilly the direct word of God. I stand corrected, and that's why I come to this forum :)
