hey :) I think what you're looking for is the Annunciation, and I have no clue when that is.. Immaculate Conception refers to Mary's conception, not of Jesus.

Wow, checked and you are, of course, right. I feel like a complete idiot. One of those things where I just assumed I knew what it was and never checked.

Oy.

Yeah, the Immaculate Conception refers to Mary's conception. The feast of the Annunciation (March 25) is the feast of Jesus' conception (March to December = 9 months) :)

March 25 (the Annunciation) and December 25 (Christmas) we are asked to genuflect during the recitation of the Creed at the words "by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man" because of their special significance to those occasions. (Yes, it's under the new GIRM--and normally we are supposed to bow at those words.)

If that's true, then apparently the Immaculate Conception is an exception.
.
I misread.

But I do know that there have been a few HDO that have been mandatory for most of us while Hawaii has been excluded. And as I said previously, don't understand that one.

Got a link or location to that in the GIRM handy? I don't recall ever seeing it and Fr. genunflected at that place tonight. I wanted to read it and see if other dates were mentioned as well.

She's right. The missalettes mention genuflection on those two specific days (without mentioning any others), on the page where they list the words to the creed. If no one can find a link, you can confirm it by flipping through a missalette the next time you go to mass.

It's not a question if I doubt her. Re-read the post, I want to know if it includes today as well. Don't have missalettes at my Church. That is where I first learned to bow though. Later I did see it in the GIRM and was hopping to be redirected there. My priest genuflected at that place this evening and he is very orthodox so I am wondering if I missed something somewhere.

I can look it up in the GIRM at the USCCB if no one can direct ole lazy me. :)

It's #137 in the new GIRM (http://www.usccb.org/liturgy/current/GIRM.pdf )

Must tell you that it was far easier to check my missalete and the bulletin from my parish than to find it in the GIRM. It's parctically hidden in there! LOL Only see the two special times of genuflection.
