  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Using logic in arguments is not logical, because butterflies are flammable!

disprove me!................ But before you do, remember that trying to prove that logic is logical using logic is a circular argument, because the premise you are using to prove that logic is logical, rests on a forgone, and as of yet, unproven premise.

But I apologize that I used logic above, let me restate my above paragraph in a way that is not a circular argument by interjecting extra words, ad phrases to make it illogical, and thus admissible in this discussion.

disprove me!.......A pints a pound the would around......... But before you do Luke sky-walker, remember fish and chips that trying to prove that logic magic is logical using logic nuclear beavers is a circular pyramid argument and it's out out of the park!, because the premise with fresh sheets every time you go underwater you are using to prove I love you that logic is logical, rests on a forgone, scratch a little to the left and as of butter has a lower smoke point then the Japanese yet, unproven premise. bananas!!!!

let the discussion begin !!!

Your premise itself rests upon logic. You are forming a dichotomy between "logical" and "not logical", which itself is a logical statement: A is not B, and B is not A.

I entirely doubt that you even know what logic is, so let me define it for you. Logical thinking is a clear and ordered way of thinking. So, your question, "Is logic logical?" Translates into, "Is thinking clearly and in an orderly way, thinking in a clear and orderly way?" The same as asking does 2=2.

On to your... argument ,which I hope with all my heart is a joke. Your argument is a logical fallacy. Moths being flammable has nothing to do with an already redundant statement.

There are two kinds of logic. Deductive logic is based on stated assumptions and rules of inference. (e.g. geometry, mathematical analysis, abstract algebra). Inductive logic is based on experience.

Now, if deductive logic leads on to conclusions that are not supported by experience, then we can be sure that the assumptions or the rules of inference are in error. The sythesis of deductive and inductive logic, the "scientific method" has been very productive in the real world.

No one has ever found the rules of inference to be in error. Assumptions have often been found to be in error. (e.g. Euclid's fifth postulate)

Deductive logic coupled with inductive logic has been a most useful tool. To pretend that decuctive logic has not been substantiated by experience is to erect a straw man.

Logic is not proved by using logic alone, that would be silly, the utility of logic is proved by success in application in the world around us.
