Is it wrong to pray like this?

(-;

Ecclesiastes 503:15.

I think it's just experiential advice, that some people fall asleep or get too comfortable. It would be a sign of respect or self-discipline. But it's certainly not scriptural.

Pr 3:24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid; When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

De 6:7 You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.

Picture it -- he was a youth pastor, trying to motivate teens to more fervent devotion to God.

You'll be fine if you pray in bed.
Actually, I find that I lose concentration and fall asleep on my knees a lot faster than lying down.

Alright so I remember my S.A.T. teacher (who was a youth pastor for his church at the time) told me a long time ago to never to pray lying down on my bed. I don't remember why... but can anyone justify this statement? Or is alright to do it? Thanks a lot for reading :)

I pray lying down on my bed, lying down on my face on the floor, walking, standing, sitting, in the shower, etc. The only thing about lying down on my bed or the floor is that after awhile I end up falling asleep :p . But when I wake up I'm still praying and I start tripping asking myself when did I fall asleep - lol. :D

No problem with praying while lying down. Some people do think it's bad to fall asleep while praying but I heard a great perspective on that. I used to fall asleep while praying often when I had a young baby - and someone offered the suggestion, 'what better way to fall asleep than while talking to God?' Think about it - there really is no better way than to fall asleep while intimately chatting and experiencing God.

I would think that maybe your youth minister assumed you'd go to sleep before you finished praying if you did that. It isn't as easy to concentrate as if you are sitting up. I usually keep a list of what I am praying for and even sometimes write out my prayers to help me concentrate.
