Is it wrong to personaly WANT to be a minister?

I was wondering if it's wrong for me to want to be a Pastor. God has not yet revealed to me what He wants me to do with my life and I always kind of thought that going into ministry is something that you should be lead by God to do, no something you just do because you want to. So is it wrong for me to have this desire? Or even to have the thought of this being a possibility? Thank you. God bless.

It isn't wrong to want to serve unless you are serving yourself.

I had a similar question while growing up. I was in a church that told me that only those people that God chooses will do certain things, so I had a belief that only special people did service, but i couldn't help to want to preach, and serve God. I know now that its not wrong to serve, unless you are doing it for selfish reasons, such as the "look what I am doing" mindset.

Not at all Brother! Psalm 37:4 says, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart."

Although it is good to check our motives regularly, I think that the harvest is certainly rich, and we NEED laborers.

Also, it does occur to me that we really are quite incapable of having too many pure and good intentions on our own, that the Holy Spirit did not actually put there in the first place.

We know that what He intends, he will most certainly follow through on, and after 21 yrs. in the Mission Field, I can honestly tell you that He will not stop calling you over time; it starts with a Desire, and He will confirm your Call in some very undeniable ways. It really is an exciting Life, and He Provides All The Way!
