Rap isnt a bad genre of music. That is just a generalization, cmon if i said rock is bad everyone would say no way. Rap isnt bad, you cant label types of music as bad otherwise you be implying that we have the authority to say what type of music is christian and what isnt. Its really about the message in the songs. Theres good rap and bad rap which doesnt promote christianity. But that is true for every kind of music so we cant label any one as a bad form of music.

Yeah but you should judge a song based on it's content. Some rap is definitely ungodly. Then again, I think there is actually Christian Rap out there too.

Heavens no! It is not wrong to listen to rap.. if it was i would be dead by now for sinning too much. As long as the lyrics are good lyrics and they glorify God why would they be wrong? Suggestions.. if you like rap try TBone, KJ-52 and Toby Mac (my fave artist) If you like fast rap toby really isnt for you but it is still considered rap music....

Rap is bassically just poetry, and there's a lot of Christian poetries out there. So there is nothing wrong with rap.

Well, it depends. I mean, if the album or song that you're listening to doesn't have any God-bashing or antichrist content/lyrics, I guess it's alright.

I used to listen to secular rap for 5 years but I discovered Christian Hip Hop and it has become a great alternative. Reason is, no profanity and no ungodly lyrics (obviously).

I preferably listen to Christian music as a whole nowadays because it's glorifying to God.

My favourite Christian Hip Hop group is Tunnel Rats and my favourite Christian emcee is Sev Statik from the Tunnel Rats.

I agree, it is the lyrics you should be worried about. Music of its own is neutral, in my opinion. Even though I do not like rap music, I'm sure Christian rap is okay for those who believe, and enjoy that type of music.

Of course it's okay to listen to rap! It just depends what the message is in the songs. If it is inappropriate things or if it goes against your beliefs as a Christian than I wouldn't listen to it. In other words, Christian rap is perfectly fine.

Im not here to judge the style of music you like that is not what this trehad was about.
I seem to see this topic or topics like this pop up quite often. from the title i figured it was the worldly rap that you were talking about. I personaly dont care for most of it beause of the content in the songs. CHristian rap is well it has slowly gotten better over the years. in its infancy it was quite rediculous. now if you look hard enough there are some good chrisian rap out there, most of it is not that popular.
