Is it possible to be divided as a Christian?

It is obvious that division in God is simplicity. Division is only for those of simplistic minds. None the less, we are witness to many divisions called "denominations".

I see this differently. I think that division is not simplicity. Simplicity is unity as a whole, division is separation because it begins to focus on specific details more than the whole. I can see how one might think it is simplicity, but it (splitting into denominations) is an over complication of things.

Maybe that's what you are talking about?

You ask why, maybe because it is either safe or stimulating?

Its ok. I am sorry if I answered. I wonder the same sometimes . And feel in a mess reading one theology and another.

I can only point you to things that might explain it.

Such as John Mackay's book - Christian Reality and Appearance.

So its about people views on the Bible and authority in the church.

God is the only authority in the Church.

You still haven't clarified the question. And why did you post it in the open-to-atheists section?

But if your question is broadly about divisions into denominations, I assume that you've done your bit for unity by joining the largest denomination? Or have you made the divisions worse by joining some small nondenominational church not in union with anybody else?

I just figured all good is good. Aren't all that seek good, good?

Maybe he thinks an atheist's point of view is just as legitimate as different denominations of Christians in the sense that he, as truth seer, doesn't understand anybody who doesn't see the truth he sees, regardless of their self-appointed theism?

I don't find anything wrong with trusting in God with no fear.

I thought all good things were an authority according to you? Are you saying that not all good things are an authority? If so, how did you decide what good things are an authority?

I'm curious about divisions, separations among believers. Offenses happen, I understand. Who is offended in becoming one in God? God isn't.

I think the point is that we all would prefer there to be no divisions, but people are not like that and will always follow their curiosity, doubts, or learning to the end that they disagree with some other people on one religious matter or another. So what does this thread have in mind to do about it--just say it's unfortunate that things are this way??
