Is it possible that we can have a civil discussion here about Mary and/or the saints? It seems that a lot of threads have been recently closed because our discussions have either wandered off topic or have resulted in flaming. I, for one, have appreciated these threads because they provide an insight into the wide range of opinions on these topics. Some, such as Thekla, have been reasoned and fair in their posts and have done an excellent job in presenting their (EO in the case of Thekla) position. Others, including myself, have been much less effective.

So, do you think it possible to start some new threads for sane, civil discussion?

If the Scriptures point to false doctrine....is it considered uncivil to show it? There's always something that spoils the witness.

Och, there will always be some threads that get over-heated...sometimes we need to say a few home truths to one another in love...but I for one see a red flag when people spew forth anti-Semitic statements, and don't really know how to reply in a gentle civil manner...where's a hammer?

For the most of us, that is exactly what we do; however there are some that can't because it's their way or the highway.
