Is it just me or does General Apologetics get you down...

but for fellowship, ya can't beat here...
Yep, that's how I feel. I love this subforum. That's why I am here as a mod. :)

I would warn anyone who posts in General Apologetics to do so after prayer. Just be careful.

Hey desi,
I definitely know what you mean. I have never posted there, but I have spent some time reading through the topics and posts. I have never posted there for this reason: Almost no one is interested in the truth. For the majority, Christians and non-Christians alike speak out of pride. NonChristians for understanding the foolishness of the Gospel, and Christians for understanding the wisdom of the Gospel. There are few Amens and the uplifting message of the Gospel seems to often be beat over another (rather than letting God's love lead us to repentance and wisdom). Finally, since our proud nature blinds us to the truth, any truth offered is rejected swiftly and firmly. A sincere question is one thing....I just have not personally seen any sincere questions in the General Apologetics.

Really the type of questions/points I hear are much like the questions the Pharisees and Sadducees approached Jesus with (ex. Luke 20). They had no concern for the truth, but were looking for some way to take down Jesus' authority/wisdom/true nature. :(

I don't know though...the Word of God never returns void. Paul said in Philippians,

It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

I pray the Lord gives you rest. :):):)

-Chris

Great idea, I wish I would remember that!

I know what you mean, but there are a few who come across as genuine.

Another thing that makes it hard is a few of the Christians who post there!
Talk about squabbling and undermining each other! Doesn't really promote Christian love and unity, and any genuine seekers often end up baffled.

I think it's good to get out there when something you see tugs at your heart, and yes, to pray, but if it's becoming too antagonistic the time might come that we should withdraw:

Mark 6:10,11

"Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave, as a testimony against them."

See you there?
God bless you all, Susana

I don't really post there, since I'm fairly new in the faith myself, but I can understand that it can seem discouraging when it seems as though no one is listening.

But keep in mind that there are probably FAR MORE lurkers than you might think, and there is a very good chance that something you say may strike a cord within someone who is seeking truth.

Just because you can't see God working through you, doesn't mean He's not. :)

That's a good point Sarahbug. :)

Also, has anyone noticed that threads seem to stray from the topic of the OP? It's like there's the OP addressing a topic, and 10 posts later you're discussing a whole different topic.

Or the non-Christians (probably some Christians too, but I mainly notice the non-Christians doing it) spewing rhetoric beyond sarcasm. I think whoever said they're not looking for truth was right on, as far as I can tell. A Christian can post something and the response of the non-Christian seems to be nothing other than to try to make the Christian look like a total idiot.
