• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

was it part of god's plan for me to get sick? i have many more issues besides OCD, and i was suicidal for a long time in the past because of all the pain. i get peace knowing that what happened to me was not an accident, but was part of god's plan for me. i get peace knowing that god put me through this, and he will use this torment for his good and my good eventually.

a friend of mine is also really sick, and what got her sick was the same kind of accident, it wasn't her fault. but she blames herself for what happened to her and what the accident has done to her and all the suffering that it has brought on her. she is consumed in severe thoughts about how stupid she was not to avoid the accident. these thoughts are destroying her, she has been consumed in them for over a year, and they never go away.

are the accidents that bring about disease in our lives part of god's will and plan? do we struggle with OCD and other diseases because they are part of gods plan?

I think it's God's plan to use these things that happen, because there is sin in our world, to His glory. We can always be assured that God will make all things be for our good.

I have a pain disorder and depression/anxiety/ocd (although the ocd doesn't bother me anymore). It's a thorn, but God's strength is made perfect in our weakness.

I hope your friend can let things go. It will eat her up to keep blaming herself. That is so sad.

You have a very healthy Christian attitude concerning your struggles. That is so neat to see.
