Never getting married.

Today, I am declaring to the world that I am making a vow to and before the Almighty God never to get married in my life time.

Thank you, God knows my situation and understands why I am making this vow and I intended not to break it. I am going as far as never having a dating relationship or close friendships with women inside or outside of church. I am to remain single and do what the Lord intends me to do.

So you're breaking your vow to God and the community, is that correct?

If you are going to break your vow not to get married I guess God is fine with it, cause God never came in person and told you to be celibate in the first place.

I hope most people have high expectations of the person they want to be in a relationship. However, you can't expect them to be perfect because they are human. And I think it is unfair to have expectations of another person that you don't meet yourself.

I think you need to decide what you want (to be single or in a relationship) before you start having any expectation in this area of another person. It is okay to chose to be single. And it is okay to decide to be single until someone special comes in your life, while accepting if she doesn't, you are okay staying single.

You’ll have expectations of your partner and your share of disappointments too. The unexpected is part of life and you must be willing to adjust to changes and unforeseen events. Marriage isn’t a straight path. There’s many twists and turns.

The bottom line is love and your willingness to forgive and set aside the ideal for the person walking beside you. If there’s areas of struggle you may be able to help her overcome them. But sometimes you can’t and bearing up is the lone option.

Perhaps the best expectation you can aim for is to love unselfishly and fearlessly without apology. Pour yourself out in the other and die to self. If you’re fortunate, she’s willing to do the same on your behalf.

It's a matter of the heart. And I realise there are exceptions that get into the excess, but I think it's fair as long as you are prepared to hold the same standards for yourself as what you are looking for in a mate. Like others have said, however, everyone will have their flaws here and there. Nobody is perfect except Jesus. But it's going to be a question of whether or not you will give and take, understand, and sometimes compromise for the sake of making it work. Good luck!
