The god Molech is what got Solomon in hugh trouble in the OT.......1Ki 11:

7 Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the hill that is east of Jerusalem,
and for Molech the abomination of the people of Ammon.
8 And he did likewise for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods.
9 So the LORD became angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned from the LORD God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice,
11 Therefore the LORD said to Solomon, “Because you have done this, and have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant.............

Jer 32:35
‘And they built the high places of Baal which are in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I did not command them,
nor did it come into My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.'

Paul spells out how God is the only One ever in heaven except Christ, after he was ressurected and how we respond to anyone who thinks there is a literal devil/satan.

Act 17:22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

If the wages of sin is eternal torment, the only way that Jesus could take our place and pay our debt for sin is that HE BE eternally tormented. Period.

Yes annihilationists always quote Rom 6:23. But there are more verses.

Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Along with Rom 6:23 this tells me that all, 100%, of mankind have sinned and will die.

Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

These verses in every case satisfy Rom 6:23. And since all men have sinned, all 100%, of mankind will face the judgment. But what these verses don't say is, "The wages of sin is death, resurrection, judgment then a second death."

After that inevitable death, when mankind faces that judgment Jesus will say to some "these go away into everlasting punishment." Jesus did not say death. We don't use the writings of the apostles to twist Jesus' words and make them mean something else.

You cannot have your cake and eat it too! It is either eternal life or the eternal punishment of DEATH.

Mat 25:46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Eternal punishment (kolasin aiōnion). The word kolasin comes from kolazō, to mutilate or prune. [RWP]

Isa 43:17 Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.

Joh 5:29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Rev 21:8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
And since all men have sinned, all 100%, of mankind will face the judgment.
Ps 1:4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Psa 37:20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

Psa 68:2 As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

Isa 43:17 Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.

Isa 1:31 And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.
28 And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.

Isa 14:21 as a carcase trodden under feet.
20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be summoned. H7121 [קרא] v. be read; called; summoned; be named, called

I tend to agree.
1 Jo 5 mentions a sin that leads to death.

I would say this death is speaking of the 2nd death as mentioned in Revelation, as everyone dies once, whether they comitted this particular sin or not. IMHO.

1Jo 5:16
If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death.
There is sin leading to death.
I do not say that he should pray about that.

Bumped to the top in response to yet an other Hell:no! thread.

Heman and Deralter locked in an eternal argument:
Barbossa: So what now, Jack Sparrow? Are we to be two immortals locked in an epic battle until Judgment Day and trumpets sound?
Jack Sparrow: Or you could surrender.

The old thread automatically closed is here: "Is Hell Really Eternal?"

Apparently the word translated "forever" in the original Hebrew means more like "until the end of conditions last." This would fit better with what near death experience George Ritchie was shown about hell.......

But 1 Jo 5:16 does not say "second death" and there is no verse in the entire NT which describes a second death. People and beings are thrown into the lake of fire but the scripture never says "then they die." Counter argument: "But people in a lake of fire will be burned to a crisp." Not necessarily, Moses saw a bush burning but it was not consumed and in Daniel king Nebuchadnezzar threw three Hebrew slaves into a furnace seven times hpotter than normal but they were not burned to a crisp. They were not harmed at all. So if God wants to make "eternal punishment" mean eternity in the lake o fire He can make it happen.

Jud 1:12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

Psa 31:17
Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.
Counter argument: "But people in a lake of fire will be burned to a crisp." and in Daniel king Nebuchadnezzar threw three Hebrew slaves into a furnace seven times hpotter than normal but they were not burned to a crisp. They were not harmed at all.
"The Song of Three Children", is an addition to the Book of Daniel is an apocrayphal addition of 67 verses inserted after 3:23. Codex B has the heading "The Prayer of Azariah" and "Hymn of the Three". The hymn is unlikely in such a situation. It is more lke a litany, and seems to be modeled after Ps 136.
Both are unauthentic amplifications of the story in canonical Dan, that are meant to fill out the account of the miraculous deliverance of three Hebrews by giving the prayer which one of them offered, beeching God for deliverance. It is entirely unknown who composed them.

Psa 31:18 Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

God, Himself is a consuming fire so that argument is null and void. The name Jehovah is revealed to Moses and its significance at the Bush. New Standard Bible Dictionary Page 250.
Exo 3:2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

Ps 94:17 Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.

Ps 115:17 The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.

1Sa 2:9 He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

So the question, then, is: Does God want to?

Let me rephrase, the unrighteous can be kept consciously aware in the lake of fire if God chooses to. The Jews before and during the time of Jesus believed that God did choose to. The ECF also believed so. And there is ample scriptural evidence that it is so. Matt 3:12; 5:13, 20, 29,-30; 7:13-14; 21-23; 8:12; 10:33, 39-42; 13:49-50; 18:3-4, 8-9, 21:43; 22:2-14; 23:13, 15; 25:11-12, 41, 46; Mark 9:43-48; 10:15; Lk 9:62; 12:45-46; 13:23-24; Luke 16:22-28; 18:17; John 3:3, 5, 18; 15:6. Rev 14:10-11; 19:20; 20:10, 14, 15; 21:8

Repeating the same the same verses over and over does not change what they say.
but now having become dead again by apostasy, and so hopelessly dead. There is a climax. Not only without leaves, like trees in late autumn, but without fruit: not only so, but dead twice; and to crown all, “plucked up by the roots. [RWP]
