What exactly does that mean - "perfected"?

If someone was 20lbs overweight, would they not be anymore? What about an amputee? Would they then have their limb(s) back?

What if a person was cremated? Would they have the same body they had before they were cremated?

What about age? Would a 95-year-old person who may have been weathered and wrinkled become young and wrinkle-free?

I am not trying to start a debate or anything like that. I am genuinely curious about people's opinions on this.

My apologies if my questions are off-topic.

I think that it means that this body that we have here on Earth will no longer be corruptible which in turn can no longer die. It dies here but not there as it is perfected, glorified for sin which powers death cannot tamper with it any longer. The type of Body that Christ, our Lord has during the Ascension will be ours. The immortality that He has will also be ours, only if we are found in that Great Book of the Lamb's Sacred List of the Lamb's Holy People Redeemed.

As for Hell, it has to be another realm outside our reality but within the reality that God created.

me and my mother offten do not agree on this topic
this is something we know so little about, the only example we have is Jesus so let us go to Him, as we should for all things

let us look at what happened after Jesus rose from the dead
there are times when people could not recognize Him, Mary Magdalen thought He was a gardner and two of His desciples walked with Him on the road to Emmaus and did not recognize Him untill they broke bread with Him. So we will look differant

Jesus allso did stuff like apear in a locked room, now this could be because Jesus is, was and always will be God and He works miricles, or this could be something that speaks to the nature our bodies will have after the resurection

Jesus had Thomas see the holes in His hands and side, Jesus also ate with the apostles on the beach, so it is also a physical body and more then that, the same body that was nailed to the cross

one time someone asked me what happens when people are creamated, I said that they will come back as horrible whirlwinds, that joke was in poor taste, but I think it was funny
but on a serious note, if God can make the entire world in 6 days just from speaking it into being, I think He can just restore creamated people, I mean even if you are not creamated, in a few years you are little more then bones anyways
amputees I think would get their arms back
but what if you were never born with an arm? like a birth defect?
maybe you will have an arm, or since your body will be perfect it will not matter if you lack a limb?

Wow! That is a great answer! That really makes it clear to me!

You might enjoy reading through this, as well as its references.

Thank you for the source! Sometimes I forget to consult the Catechism on certain issues.

Anyone can cobble together a few Bible verses that speak of the place of the dead as under the earth, but it's a mighty thin thread of reasoning to get from there to the confident certainty that hell is in the center of the earth. You are right to stick close to the Church's teaching--both what it says and what it refrains from saying. In the end...

Is hell located in the center of the earth?

No, the center of the earth contains a molten nickel-iron core which produces a massive magnetic field that protects our atmosphere from solar winds.

Now, if the stars (20,000,000 degrees in the core plus massive gravity fusing elements from hydrogen), specifically black holes, we're described to be hell, then...

Yes and yes and no one would be disabled, mentally challenged or otherwise affected from the fall as we are now.
What if a person was cremated? Would they have the same body they had before they were cremated?
Yes, we all become dust again eventually.
What about age? Would a 95-year-old person who may have been weathered and wrinkled become young and wrinkle-free?
From ppl seeing someone they loved who passed away - visit them - about the age 30ish for everyone. Maybe we just appear 30ish the same age as Christ [33] - also Trinity.
Dont know the age myself.

But no more wrinkles. Perfect everything.

I am not trying to start a debate or anything like that. I am genuinely curious about people's opinions on this.

My apologies if my questions are off-topic.

 IN Paradise - Heaven - with God - there will no affects from the fall.

i heard someone say at the end of time when the resurection comes, the damned will be sent to the planet Venus
acid rain, acid fog, lightning, wind storms, lightning
and Lucifer was called the morning star, and that is the planet venus
Jesus said it is fire. I dont think they will get rain of any kind - since that would be relief.

Hey, don't forget that Venus is a volcanic planet. It is like Earth's evil twin. We have water abundance here while there is the infernal plains of pure horror. We have oxygen as the majority outside of nitrogen and CO2 is just a minority, there it is the opposite. We have green plants and lots and lots of creatures here but there it ain't.

Since the Church teaches us that Hell is not a physical place (which is unsurprising, since our souls are not material, either), I should think the answer was no, hell is not at the centre of the earth, any more than heaven is on a cloud.

Didn't Aquinas say the fires of hell are corporeal?

Yep.

Interestingly, I think that St. Thomas Aquinas was referring to the fire which is used only to punish the soul, although obviously he would have believed that the eternal fire is also corporeal. He believed that individual souls, upon going to Hell, were tortured by the fact that they could not leave the corporeal fire as opposed to actually being able to feel it. He did also believe, as the article states, that Hell was within the Earth, although this was a pious opinion of St. Thomas Aquinas.

Well, what about when Venus is obliterated when Sol balloons out to a red giant?

Sulfuric acid rain would not be a relief. Water does not exist, except as a trace gas, on Venus. The temperature is so high that what little water there is could never condense to the minutest droplet of liquid water.

Semantics... while I don't claim to be an expert, consider how there wasn't much of a concept of Hell until Jesus came along. Before then, it was the underworld, the world of the dead. Where do the dead go? In the ground. They're buried.

Metaphorical language is an easy way to illustrate ideas. But just because you say someone went "down" to Hell doesn't mean anyone should take that literally.

I think the concept and imagery of hell came from greek hades - look at the divine comedy for example. The geenna was a sort of modern day incinerator for garbage. Where the garbage was "stored" and burned.

"men are from mars women are from venus"...???!!!

-.-'

The morning star = THE SUN! RA = sun god. The Early Israelites were demonising egyptian's gods that's it..They in practice called Ra the sun god worshipped by egyptians the morning star-lucifer.
In crypted terms.
...

Israelites didn't particularly like egyptians very much..

pearls of wisdom..

Actually, there's quite a bit of water in the atmosphere on Venus. It's part of the reason why the planet is so scorching. There's a chance that it had surface water in the distant past before a runaway greenhouse effect took over. The water boiled off and entered the atmosphere, where it acted to trap more heat and cause even further warming. So, there's plenty of water on Venus, but it's part of the problem rather than part of the solution :p

At the same time, the Bible states that the world we live in now will melt away "in fervent heat". So, Venus therefore couldn't be Hell. At any rate, if Hell were in this Universe it would get only a few billion years before dark energy pushed everything apart, and obviously long before that time it would be too diffuse for any really meaningful heat to exist. The Universe, if it were allowed to continue indefinitely, would eventually just drift out into cold darkness. Hell, on the other hand, is eternal.

Here - an illustration of Hebrew cosmology, from which we derive our concept of the afterlife.

Ancient-Hebrew-Cosmology-Infographic.jpg

We got the same thing in OT class. The best we can understand the firmament is a big bubble over the earth with stars on it.

Revelation - when written - was either to placate the understanding of the Jews at the time - or simply it could be under the earth.

I wont lose sleep - i figure God has it covered. Where ever it is - i dont want to go. :o

They are referring to the after life [since they describe hell]. Unseen rain....like the fires that burn them eternally are unseen by the mortal eye.

Actually, water vapor may have initially contributed to a runaway greenhouse effect but it has long evaporated into space. Venus has no magnetic field protecting it from solar winds, so it's constantly losing atmosphere. Remember that Venus is also very volcanic.
At the same time, the Bible states that the world we live in now will melt away "in fervent heat".
I'd say that having your planet swallowed up by its star ballooning into a red giant would qualify as "fervent heat."

So, Venus therefore couldn't be Hell.
That depends on whether a planet could survive being enveloped by its star during the process of expanding into a red giant.

For hell to make sense, it would have to exist in a dimension where time has no meaning. "No where and no when.". In that case, it becomes the eternal now, no change, time stops.
