Is hating people wrong?

Captain Bucky says:

You also must realise that most of our problems have come from hatred. To begin with, Satan's hatred led to the fall of man. Someone with hatred seeks his own revenge (rather than justice) and does not consider others. You may not realise it, but as you hate Hitler, you don't care about other people, you don't care about innocents (another reference to Madame Defarge), you easily lower yourself just as low or maybe even lower than the thing you hate, and your hatred spreds, clouding other people and making other people suffer from hatred who shouldn't have (again, only caring about youself). Say if you not only captured someone like Hitler, but you beat him half to death and basically torture him and most likely, the people who may have blindly held him dear will hate and cause more problems rather than just mourn over him (though they may give in to hatred anyway). Hate is evil, it is the Devil, it is just a problem for everyone. Justice is what must be desired, not hate and vengence. Jews, you should know what hatred caused when Jacob's sons exacted revenge for their sister. Well, that's what I have to say.

An excellent example is our hatred for Iraq and her leaders. Our attack on a sovereign nation that was not a threat to us or any of our citizens have put us in quite a pickle, IMO. We may not have liked their leader or his politics, but how does that differ with Korea or some of the African countries? We have created more hatred toward us in the Middle East, by the Arab countries, than there ever was before 9/11. To love a person or nation means loving in spite of their faults, i.e., God's love for us. Of course if one is attacked, one must defend self, family and country. But, one must not be the attacker. Would we have gained more in Iraq through love than hate? of course, and lives would have been spared.

The opposite of hatred is love, and IMO, love is how God intended man to use the gift emotion; we are to choose love over hate. The world is desperately in need of more love and less hate. To say that hate is good is like saying that greed is good. Both greed and hate will always lead to destructive action, and God is not mocked, whatsoever you sow that shall you also reap. One must control their emotions as opposed to their emotions controlling them.

Mind explaining at all? heh.. just seemed random.

We are supposed to love one another, not hate! It is in the Bible so many times to love, and I have never seen it say anywhere that I should hate anyone. Read Matthew 5:43 and 44. "...Love your enemies..."

I'm sick of hearing 'love thy enemies'.

I need enemies and am happy to have those people who oppose at every turn. Even though they end up getting crushed by absolute power in the long run.

Why is everyone missing the point that we cannot cast of things such as hate, greed, envy, lust, arrogance, etc?

This is what makes life, life. I hate hearing about a kidnapped child who is later found mutilated in bushes. I hate seeing those starving kids lay in exhaustion until Grim snatches 'em up. But, thats what gives me a greater appreciation for everything i have, everything i am trying to have, and my life, period.

You can cast off hate, greed, envy, lust, arrogance, etc. I have done it. I don't hate anyone, I am not envious, I don't lust, I am not arrogant or greedy. At least, I try not to be. With God, all things are possible. I understand your point of view though. If it weren't for the bad things, we wouldn't appreciate the good! That is true! Please forgive me if I offended you in any way.

Thanks, figured that might've been what you were getting at. Although I think most of the posts here show in a good way how feeling all your emotions is just fine. If you don't feel hate, lust, envy, and arrogance at all times then you've got some good delusions going on. On the bright side, eventually if you keep it up you can become a robot. Seeing as that is all we are once we've lost our will to care to feel anger towards those in opposition to what we find right.
