  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't know if this is the right place for this question but I found this verse strange

Mat 6:30

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Why would grass be thrown into the oven?

The verse in question is an a fortori argument. It goes like (it would help if you didn't try at KJV) this:

If God bothers with grass (which lasts for a very short amount of time), and you last longer than grass, how much more will God bother with you?

The emphasis is on time; hence the comparison to something that passes on quickly.

Grass has also been used to compare time lengths...

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of God stands forever. (Is. 40:8)
