Either that, or you don't recognize it as such.

Nice.

Would you know it if I was on topic?
John 12

Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again:

40
“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts,
Lest they should see with their eyes,
Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,
So that I should heal them.”

Nevertheless I pray that they come to the knowledge of the truth before it is too late. :)

Jeremiah 2:27a Saying to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face:
To paraphrase something I recall someone saying...

"You're welcome to start your own thread on that. This one is about science in particular; and evolution specifically."

QV please:

Note: While the following verses are not actually discussing evolution, being as the theory obviously did not exist back then, nevertheless, they could very easily be used to describe the belief in evolution today, being as the mentality is basically the same.

That it's a form of idolatry.
Only from a certain point of view. Not even all Christians hold that point of view. And it certainly says nothing about the validity of evolution as an explanation for the variety of life we see in the world.

It doesn't teach us how to spell evolution either. So what?

Tell me, AV, what is the topic of the thread? Is it about whether evolution is a valid theory? Or is it about how to spell evolution? Let me know.

You should realize that evolution, per se, is a very tricky term, since it has so many aspects.

If I say NO, evolution is not a valid theory, then you could come back and ask about adaptation or microevolution.

If I say YES, evolution is a valid theory, then it gives the wrong impression that I'm a supporter of molecules-to-man macroevolution.

Suffice it to say that I believe the Bible is against evolution as a whole, and let it go at that.

But if I had to answer your question, I'm going to say NO, evolution is definitely not a valid theory.

I was not asking your opinion on whether you think evolution is a valid theory. You have, after all, been abundantly clear, as you are again here.

I was asking you what the topic of this thread was.

Is this a thread discussing whether evolution is a valid theory, yes or no?

Please note: Saying "Yes" will only be counted as you saying the thread was started to discuss that topic, and will not in any way be taken as a reflection on your views of that topic.

In distinction from posts approving of the inappropriate application of Bible verses ...

I believe AV was fully responsive and on topic in the above post. In speaking of the validity of evolution as a theory, he accepts that there is such a theory. Moreover, he notes, correctly, that the theory of evolution has many sub-theories, making the validity of "the" theory of evolution ill-defined.

He further suggests that he is open to all of the meaningful mechanisms that make up the theory with the exception of time to allow microevolution to become macroevolution, so long as a caveat is inserted to make room for the divine spark or two or however many trillions are necessary to guide the process in order to prevent the conclusion that we are all contingent beings.

I don't know about anyone else, but I, for one, am always willing to take yes for an answer, and go from there.

Evil ution lol

Like too many of us still inhabiting this forum, most mornings as I creak my way up toward vertical, I feel the same about gravity. It's not the theory, it's the consequences.

But you'll never hear me blaming God for it, mostly because I don't believe in any gods that don't have at least that much evil in them.
