Ephesians 2:1-2 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience
Notice that this is talking about a former way of life. It doesn't say "you were dead in the trespasses and sins into which you were born." It isn't referring to an inherited state of being. He's talking about a life of sin: walked, following
"sons of disobedience" is an idiomatic expression indicating the character of the people. It doesn't mean that they were born disobedient. It means that they are committed to disobedience.
Ephesians 2:3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind
Again, this is talking about a life committed to sin. It doesn't say that we were born that way. "Lived" and "carrying out" indicate a purposeful commitment, not an inherited state of being.
Ephesians 2:3 (continued) and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
This is also an idiomatic expression meaning that because of our purposeful commitment to a life of sin, we were rightfully subject to God's wrath. There is nothing in the expression that can lead us to the conclusion that we were born sinful or born under God's wrath. It refers to the consequence of a life purposefully committed to sin.
