Hey, I don't know if this is the right place for this but I'll talk anyway.

I have always wondered, is it bad to enjoy war? I've always enjoyed the prospect of a fight and in the end only the strongest coming out alive. Is this a bad thing? Is it bad to enjoy seeing your enemies lying dead before your feet?
If you respond, please explain.
thanks

Get in uniform and got over there ans see if you come back thinking the same way.
And No, not the Navy where you can sit out the war offshore holding a mop instead of a rifle or the Air Force where you can wash planes. Not even the Army or Marines as a POG (Personnel other than Grunt) And sit out the war as a Fobbit. No, Go infantry and join the the ones who spend hours humping 90 pounds of gear. Shher boredom interrupted by moments of terror. Then come back and tell everyone how you enjoy war.

Combat veterans don't talk like this.

Bernie, don't be bad talking the Force, man. We deploy alongside the Army, doing convoys and security detail, often times augmenting combat troops where we are right alongside them as they are kicking down doors.

I think ramy needs some help, he either doesn't understand English, is a troll, or is trying to inflate his post count.

Depends, I've made peace with the fact that I enjoyed my tour in the desert. I made alot of money, made good friends, and had some experiences that have really shaped my life.

Is it bad? Probably, but I would just call it a guilty pleasure then. To be honest, it sucked while I was there. It sucked bad, but it's one of those deals where you come back and you're so grateful it's over that you look back on some of it fondly. I was scared to death the whole damn time. Don't listen to BernieEOD trying to champion the 11 bang bangs. Most of them are knuckledragging idiots, I'd know, I was attached to them.

Sp are Navy SEALS, SeaBees, EOD, and other members of the "Cammo clad Navy" (As opposed to the "Backshoe Navy) But like the Cammo Clad Navy, the truly tactical community within the Air Force is but a small part of the Force.

The joke goes: If all 5 branches of the Service were odered to "Secure a building" :

- The Navy would turn off the lights and lock the door

- The Army would occupy it, post a sentry, and prohibit unauthorised entry.

- The Marine Corps would perform an all out assault, hit it with artillery, and call in an air strike.

- The Air Force would sign a 10 year lease with an option to buy.

Feeling left out, the Coasties were challenged to come up with what they would do. Their answer was:

- The Coat Guard would empty the trash cans and vacume the carpet.

Correction: You enjoy watching others in a fight. If you EVER had to be a grunt on the front lines, you would not think like this.

Who are "Your enemies"? Those the press tells you to hate? Christ teached us to love your enemies. Even As I was diving under ships looking for bombs following 9-11, I had no hatred for the enemy.

And as far as the "Strongest" comming out alive...Such is not always the case. If you "Love war" So much, you should study military history a little more. Especially the wars in the OT. You will know that God chooses the winner. In order to show that HE is the Lord, he uses lesser nations to strike down great ones.

Other examples of "The strong" losing:

- Rome should not have fallen the way it did, the Barbarians were neither as strong or well equipped.

- The Spanish Armada was the greatest fleet assembled in its time. It still lost.

- Germany had the best tanks, planes, and submarines. And yet still lost both world wars.

- Even without American troops, South Viet Nam had more and better tanks, better equipped Army, and complete air and naval supremacy. It still lost.

- 8 years and 1.4 trillion dollars later, your "Enemies" Are still not at your feet in either Iraq or Afgahnistan.

Don't get me wrong, I am by no means trained as combat personnel, people in my AFSC (Signals Intel Analyst) just tend to get deployed along with various combat units, special forces, etc...

That statement is too idiotic for words. If the entire outcome of war was based on God then we would still be standing still in lines in open fields shooting eachother with muskets.

No military force on the ground is immune to attack, including Air force, not all Air Force drop bombs, launch missles from ground or air.

I believe the poster is immature. War is a game to him, I believed like him, when I was 8yr old, when we played war, and no one really died.
When you face death, or face having to kill, the fun and games is gone.
The blood stains even if you never touch it. The scars of war never really heal.
I ask you Gatheris, if handed a firearm, and told to go out and kill someone that is armed and looking to kill you, would you still think it fun and games.

Put your toys away, come to the real world. The people shot and killed, don't get up to play again. Game over means a coffin, a body bag, a family grieving. You mess up out there, Game over, means your dead.

War is not fun, nothing to look forward too. No country should ever go to war on a whim. It will haunt the soldiers(all titles) for the rest of their lives, with wounds(physical and mental) that will need care for the rest of their lives.
War is reality. It must be fought at times. But it should, must be a last resort. When violence is the only benefit of negotiations, then war is the only option. But negotiations must be first.

This being a Christian forum, The word of God should be the standard.
God makes it clear that no nation rises, stands, or falls without his will.
There is no way Jerico should have fallen and yet, by the hand of God, it did. Likewise, a shepherd boy comming up to challenge a champion who terrified the greatest wariiors of Isreal was considered an insult to Goliath.
Guess who lost his head?

Military histor if full of battles where the strong are vanquised by the weak. Our own revolution is a prime example of that. There is no such thing as Gods superpower. God always takes down the arrogant superpowers with lesser nation swho should have never won.

Both the NAvy and Air Force are non combatant service forces. You join the Navy to get out of combat and sit out the war using a mop instead of a rifle.

I'll tell you how I feel about it in about 13 months. As of right now though I honestly can't wait to get over there.

As for the 11bravos being "knuckle dragging idiots", you could not be further from the truth. Maybe I am biased because I am an 11B, but some of the most genuine men I've known are 11B and I would not trade my friendship with them for anything. I think you're just upset that you didn't fit in because you're a lazy ass POG. Don't get it twisted, you doing convoy security for a few months and kicking down some doors with 11bravos does not make you a grunt.

I agree with the bottom line from the movie "War Games" from the early '80s. Talking about global nuclear war the computer decided that it is a strange game. The only way to win is not to play. Jesus expressed the same perspective when He commanded us to love our enemies.

I always found "War Games" an interesting commentry on the human condition -- we finally invent a means of warfare that even we consider unthinkable, so naturally, we build a machine to do the thinking for us.
