is dancing of the devil?

Personally I don't think dancing is of the devil. My church has dance in are service at times it is like ballet. The bible says sing and use instruments and dance.

My pastor said I was the most zealous dancer in our church.

I think certian forms of dance can cause a person to think about another person in a sexual way or lead to sexual attraction. Personally I don't see anything wrong with dancing but biblically is another matter. I think it depends on the style of dance being used.

In our school(also a Christian private school) ballroom dancing is the only type acceptable which is right,i think. Luckily,the guys in our school are very shy so they don't any provocative dancing together with the girls during breaks when we turn the music on in the assembly hall,but unfortunately the guys are too shy to dance anyhow. So we managed to teach 2 guys to waltz. It was so funny cuz they're like rappers and they messed up all the steps all the time =)
Dancing was originally a form of praising God. Now mankind has turned everything upside down and dancing now is mostly to show off your body or your moves. It's just my opinion. i like to dance as an excercise. But alone.
If dancing includes another person,for me it's social dancing ONLY. God wants us to be pure.
And of course it's best to dance in His Spirit!!! =)

no personally i don't believe it is of the devil. I have been in dance for 14 years. I also go to a christian scholl and we have prom but we cant dance either and i think it is stupid not to be able to. ive got prom this year so i hope it wil be of some fun.

I think dancing is fine and its simply how our body reacts to rythms. there are songs i dont liek that i end up moving to because of the rythm, and our hear often tries to set its pulse to the beat of music. my friend did an expirement that proved that. its simply natural reactions to things.

Dances meant to arouse are the kind of dance to watch out for. Just think for a minute or two and you can find a decent line to draw. I mean, who here would think pelvic thrusts are something Jesus would do?

Dancing for the wrong reasons can be of the devil. Obsessive dancing would also be of the devil because anything obsessive leads to sin.

Dance is clearly seen throughout the bible and was used in high praise, worship & in celebration of our relationships with God & one another. Like anything else that God makes holy, sets apart & uses to glorify Him, the devil takes it & makes a counterfeit of it.

If the focus is on the dancer and not God....figure it out. Were we not created to glorify God in body, spirit & mind? If we glorify ourselves (in anything) then we are being led by something other than the Holy Spirit.

I think it's natural to dance, God made us that way. Just watch a young child start moving around innocently to music. It's like sex, it was created to glorify God and meant to be between a husband and wife, BUT our society (with the influence of the devil) has twisted it and made it confusing to even some Christians.

The devils goal is to steal, kill and destroy. Dancing is another area that has been stolen, destroyed & used to kill what God purposed it for.....to gloriy HIM. Why? Dancing is one of the most powerful forms of spiritual warfare when done correctly & biblically. [bible]Psalm 149:7-8[/bible]. No wonder satan wants to destroy it.

Jewish & Davidic dance was used (& is used to this day) to promote unity and oneness, paralleling our relationship with God & one another. Are you dancing to glorify God or dancing to bring attention to yourself? You be the judge whether or not your dancing is of the devil. You know the motives of your heart.....so does God.

Point being: Everyone has their own opinions on dancing. It really depends on the motive of the person doing it. So yeah, it is simple. Dancing is not of the devil, although like I said, people have their own views.

There are many things not of the devil that he uses. Religion is not of the devil. It is of God. The devil used the concept and twisted it. Speaking is not of the devil. But the devil used speech to get 1/3 of the angels of heaven to revolt.

The first mention of a dance is Miriam (I believe). The first mention of a song is Moses (again, I believe). Both are of God. Can we agree that there is some music that Satan uses? He also uses some vulgar dancing to cause sin as well. Opinions begin only at drawing personal lines (not at the effects).
