If creationism is a fairy tale, what other fairy tale has generated so much debate and gotten so much attention in the academic world?

Any specific answers?

This one (evolution) doesn't count ... ;)

I don't think there's been anything like it since the Galileo Affair. Since the enlightenment was largely a European thing I guess the common fairy tale of Europeans is the only candidate.

Your video is a blatant strawman. Nothing in evolution or abiogenesis or any science whatsoever proposes that life should arise from peanut butter or any such compound.

I posted that video, since two different people refer to evolution as "a fairy tale."

How about the fairy tale that the earth was flat and ships could be lost over the edge...?

Nah.....you're right..... Creationism is a MUCH bigger tale than that.....!

Science keeps overlooking one thing with the Universe and everything in it. It follows laws, and those laws came from someone. Science just says "oh it just to happens to be that way, it doesn't imply a creator or law maker". The number of laws and fine tuning of those laws is a big problem, otherwise why would they invent a new fairy tale (Multiverse theory) to try and get out of this problem. It's a bit like looking at a gearbox with 5000 gears and saying "oh but they just so happened to have aligned that way with the correct ratios".

"Oh, look" says the puddle, "that this hole in which I live has been so perfectly and accurately designed for my existence, surely gives evidence of my Creator...!"

It actually does, since God came first and we are made in His image and likeness; therefore He must have made the perimeter of the hole.

(For the record though, I'm not a TE.)

Any specific answers?
Comparable level of attention in the academic world:
Holocaust denial.
Anti-vaccine theories.
Climate change denial.
Homeopathy.
Alternate authors for the works of Shakespeare.
Rejection of Special Relativity.

I wasn't aware those are considered fairy tales.

Anti-vaccine theories.
Warren Buffet, Bill Gates have both followed Ted Turner in spending over one billion dollars each on trying to control the worlds population. They also spend a lot of money trying to vaccinate the third world nations that can not afford to vaccinate themselves. So the conspiracy people try to claim they are using vaccines to control world population. Actually if you can get everyone vaccinated then you will eliminate the disease and then no one will need the vaccine anymore.

Creationism is:
The Big Lie
A Lie created by SATAN and given to Nimrod at the Tower of Babel
The greatest Fraud ever perpetrated on mankind
A fairytale for adults,
The Great Apostasy.
A myth
something that makes me mad, but I don't know why

The fairy tale that the Pentateuch was written by Moses, and more generally the idea that the Bible is in some sense the product of supernatural authorship. Biblical criticism has been a contentious issue since it first arose a few centuries ago.

Like the evolution/creation debate there is a vast gulf between the views of academics and the views of the average Bible believer. Unlike evolution, there is still a lot of debate within the scholarly community.

I thought of those but they aren't really fairy tales. Where are the supernatural being walking the earth, giants, talking animals, magic trees, adventure, orphan kings, magic wands etc?

I'm pretty sure he knows that. He just posts the craziest stuff he can find to troll people.

String theory, multiverse theory, dark matter, and Higgs boson.

Higgs is my current favorite. Higgs postulated that the only reason energy particles have "mass" is due to an invisible field that acts like jello and resists the movement of things. This gives them "mass.

His original paper was rejected by a Physics Journal as having "No particular relevance to Physics." Peer review showing its true nature.

Yeah, but creationism isn't really a fairy tale either, if you want to be restrictive. For one thing, no one believes fairy tales are true.
