well, it is true that the divorce rate doubled between 1965 and 85 as the use of contraceptives spread
Stop the presses! A catholic going along with what the Pope says?!Edward C. Green, director of the AIDS Prevention Research Project at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies says:
"There is a consistent association shown by our best studies, including the U.S.-funded Demographic Health Surveys, between greater availability and use of condoms and higher (not lower) HIV-infection rates."

Is this like how highway deaths have decreased in the past few years as we import more and more lemons from Mexico?
Lemons make highway use safer? What about the Ford Pinto?

isn't it possiblle that the Christian Church was/is right to condemn contraception?
no. but isn't the great increase in the divorce rate POSSIBLY linked to contraception
e.g., wouldn't people be more likely to divorce if they aren't having children early in the marriage?

Isn't it possible that having chordal too soon or before they were ready would lead to divorce?

I typed children I swear. I was posting from my iphone, it does strange things sometimes."Chordal: Of or relating to the strings of an instrument. 2. Relating to or consisting of a harmonic chord. 3. Giving prominence to harmonic rather than contrapuntal ..."
I've heard of a non-harmonious marriage, but I'm not sure this would make a firm legal stance

1. Possibly? I guess. But you still haven't explained the causation. Why would a condom or a pill make someone want to get a divorce?
2. A lot of people have gotten divorces with children. It probably doesn't have much of an effect.
I think that contraception is tied to divorce because it introduces a divorce right into the marriage act. it prevents the full self-giving which is the only meaning of the act
Jill Stanek cites Stanford Demographer's understanding of why the divorce rate and contraceptive use are connected:
1. Those using contraceptives have fewer children and have them later in marriage. Statistical data shows that those who have their first baby in the first two years of marriage and another baby in the next two years of marriage have much longer lasting marriages than people who dont. One reason is that there are other people in the family to care about and to stay a family unit for. Also, being a parent makes one a better person. One begins to care about things not cared about before One becomes more patient.
