Is it a sin to eat the flesh of another human being? I'm not talking about murdering someone then eating them (because murder is a sin), just eating human flesh in general. For example, people who survive a plane crash had to eat off of human bodies, who were already dead of course, to survive (true story FYI). Another example: somebody wanted their body to be eaten after they die as part of their will.

Not interested in trying it out btw. I know it's a rather strange question but it one to think about nevertheless.

I'm going to say that eating human flesh is an aesthetic issue, not an ethical one. Something like the eating of placenta, as is practiced in many cultures.

You'd be amazed how many recipes there are for that.

I'll try just about any food once, but... eeeeuuugh. For some reason, I feel like I'd rather eat a human flank than a human placenta. It's not really the human part that grosses me out I guess. XP

I hear you must try the liver. Especially when served with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.

Very interest question. I pray that I will never be in a situation where cannibalism is considered. I do not know what I would do. However, consider some Bible based reasoning.

It shows that God granted men the right to eat animal flesh-not that of fellow humans. (Genesis 9:3; compare Leviticus 26:27-29.) There is no doubt that the survivors experienced a trying, harrowing ordeal. But the idea that ‘the end justifies the means’ does not harmonize with the Bible. On that reasoning, men in dictatorial lands followed orders that caused them to commit atrocities. To disobey, they reasoned, would have been “suicidal.” But Christ Jesus showed that attempts to save one’s life in ways out of harmony with God’s will can only lead to loss of God’s favor. Death in integrity, however, assures a resurrection to life in a righteous new order.-Mark 8:35; John 6:39, 40.

Also, as another point. the Jews who were not exercising faith and who did not properly understand Jesus’ statement about eating his flesh and drinking his blood were shocked. This indicated the Jewish view on eating human flesh and blood, as inculcated by the Law.-John 6:60.

I was flabergasted when our midwife offered the placenta of our first baby to take home with us.

I'd never considered THAT as an option when you give birth in a multi cultural public hospital.

Mind you, I think the intention was to bury it rather than eat it.
