You should do everything to the glory of God, and you can lift weights to the glory of God. Like if you're trying to give up smoking or drugs or drinking, your only help should be Jesus but you can fortify it by doing other hobbies and obviously there's the fitness aspect. But we need some healthy hobbies because humans get bored they were made to enjoy wholesome things. Obviously if you are spending 4 hours a day lifting weights and spending £100 a week on dieting then it's bad because it's become an idol and it's all you care about the money would be better of in other things. And if you're taking steroids then you're destroying gods temple. Jesus may have done some carpentry as Joseph was a carpenter and back then there were no power tools it was all done by hand sawing and drilling and getting the wood it was probably really hard work, and you can get lots of rewards from doing a bit of hard work. The main thing is to establish first why you are doing it. But at least it does have some value as Paul said, and if you can live longer then you can do more work for Christ.

In healthy Body there is a healthy soul. I personally believe that whatever strengthens and betters you is in accordance with God's will. Keep on Exercising, I do as well . I found a very interesting book about that subject on this website www.orthochristiantools.com Feel free to check it out.

Surely, this is supposed to be tongue-in-cheek humor.

There is strength training, and then there is body-building. Body-building is simply making the muscles look a certain way for a muscle modeling competition. Strength training, on the other hand, is something that many people have to do in order to perform work and to stay healthy. It is good to be strong and healthy. Flexing professionally for spectators is not necessary, and I'd imagine would fall under the category of "vanity" pretty much every time.
