Gosh, I didn't vote...but I would think that it would depend on why you are doing it. It is supposed to be great exersize, but so is clog dancing for that matter. But I would think that if you are doing it in a sexual provocative way, well then yeah. I don't know, I really just don't know...if it was me doing the belly dancing, it would be a sin...it would be hilareous too though, or sickning I don't know!

What you and your husband do in your bedroom is no matter of mine... ;)

But seriously... There's nothing intrinsically evil about the movements, so I couldn't say belly dancing is a sin. The times I've seen it done, I wouldn't have thought there was anything sinful going on. But, I'm sure it can be done in ways that are inappropriate. It's one of the huge list of things where you need to look at the specific situation and listen to your conscience.

Depends on the audience. What would be the purpose of a female dancing in front of males? I can't see it not being non sexual. I think even the outfits are what you would call modest for a believer in Christ as setting an example to a weaker believer. As a husband I'd enjoy my wife doing it but would not watch another female doing that. shalom..kim

My theology may not be too strong on this issue, but it ismy understanding that much ofthe dancing mentioned in the Old Testement would have been of this type.

I do not recall any references which condemmed of forbid such dancing.

Also, I'm no expert on belly dancing, but AFAIK, it is not sexual in nature, as,say, pole or lap dancing is. I should add that I'm noe expert on those either:)

But if it is done to prevoke sexual interest - money in the ole belt..YES.

I'm not necessarily sure that the above situation would fall under the accepted definition of "belly dancing." Lord knows, however, that generations of men have attempted to fit that square peg into a round hole. :)
