I havent read the whole thread to see if someone countered this argument yet but what rede are you refering too that details a binding spell? The Wiccan Rede? It has no such thing.Ryder said:Oh lets see, the rede contains detailed binding spells designed to (for example) cause someone to fall in love with you and/or find you sexualy attractive. On face value, is it harmful? Yes, assuming it worked ( *chuckles* ) it would be a deliberate violation of the other persons free will. So I guess according to most wiccans, violating someones free will is ok as long as physical injury does not result. In my opinion that is a patheticly short sighted view of morality.
Wiccans won't call it a curse. It's a love spell, doesn't that sound lovely? But it is designed to circumvent anothers free will. And most happy-go-nice wiccans will try these binding spells and also declare that they abhore curses.
free will is free will. If a spell works against a persons freewill it will send negative karma. It doesnt matter if its physical or emotional, etc. there are consequenses for violatig somones freewill. So I guess according to most wiccans, violating someones free will is ok as long as physical injury does not result.
You are mistaken. There is never any killing of any animals to cast any type of wiccan spells.Ryder said:Oh, another thought. Those spells that call for the blood of animals, like a white dove (for love bindings if I remember correctly) how do you get that without harming a living creature? It's in the rede and most spell libraries. If your answer is find a dead one, then I gotta ask everyone. How many dead white doves have you come across in your life? Any? Oh, and they also have to be very recently dead too, else the blood is gonna be akin to dry cake mix with bateria and mold throughout.
Same reasons as someone would want to be Hindu or Buddhist or Christian. Anything more should be taken to PM, as it's agin the rules here to "promote" them thar non-Christian religions, pardner. Why would one want to be wiccan?
What she said!Kira Faye said:Cause it feels right for me, it encompasses everythign I felt and believed before I foudn a name for it....it makes me whole and helps me spiritually and in everday life.I'll be abit more specific if u ask for anythign specific or PM me or something
Thithy said:Ok, just a little off subject. Why would one want to be wiccan? This is not in a demeaning, why would anyone ever want to do that, but more in a curious, why become wiccan? I'm just curious? I don't know a whole lot about it, just bits a pieces I've heard. I've also done a bit of studing at a book store. Picked up Wiccan for Dummies and skimmed through it. I hate being ingnorant. But such is life.
