Interesting, considering that "artificial intelligence", while unarguably artificial, isn't in any way intelligence. It's simply plain old software, running on fast computers with big databases (called "knowledge bases" so as to make them sound cooler than regular old databases), and "conversational" (or to a great many of us, more annoying) chatty user interfaces. That's it. No magic. No sentient machines. No Skynet or Hal 9000 or Colossus. Just a repackaging of workaday computers and software wuth usually, but not by any means always, really good search algorithms.

Then again, the whole "Beast System" thing is an eschatological flight of fancy in itself, innit?

Yes, a man who will make use of a thing called a computer.

And probably a car, and almost certainly a cellphone, and probably a microwave oven, an elevator, and a variety of other more or less technological stuff. But most of that stuff isn't sufficiently spooky to worry anyone.

But computers, they're different, because what if they cease to be machines and become autonomous agents of evil? Which, if you think of it, is like wondering what happens if your bicycle attacks you, or your microwave is infested with demons. Interesting concept, but the likelihood is roughly zero.
