• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is anyone else having tests done?

My doctor has ordered a bunch of tests after my second miscarriage last Thursday. We are just thanking the Lord that we met this doctor, we are in the military- and you never know who will be treating you. I have talked to one other woman who had 5 miscarriages- and went on Heparin, she now has a 9 month old. I am told most multiple miscarriages are due to blood disorders, which can be treated with Heparin. I am willing to do that, even though it requires injecting yourself twice a day. I think there is some kind of "face your fears" lesson in this for me. I just wanted to know if anyone else is going through this procces??

I am. I suffered from my second miscarriage last November at 17 weeks and lost a perfectly healthy baby boy. My first miscarriage was at 12 weeks but the fetus stopped growing at 6 weeks.

I've had blood tests which came back clear from all infections and other things. I declined a post mortem on my baby but they said he must have been healthy otherwise he wouldn't of come as far as he did. I've had an ultrasound scan last Monday and praise the Lord they found no problems within me that could cause a miscarriage. I have one test left, a HSG x-ray where they place ink inside my cervix to check for any blockages and I'm concerned because it leaves you in pain afterwards (aparrantly no worse than a period). I don't think I need it because my cycle has gone right back to 28 days and I am ovulating like clockwork so I don't think I have blockages.

Good luck with your tests. I pray you find some answers.

Ow. I have had the Hysterosalpingogram X- ray that you are talking about. It is horribly painful. It feels like the worst contractions. After losing our fourth baby, my doctor performed this test in the hospital and found out that this was what was why the babies miscarried (3 first trimester, 1 at 24 weeks). I had no clue that I had a septum in my uterus. All my periods were clockwork and I had no cramps. You would never know if you had a sceptum or not. You can't feel it and I feel no different today than when I had the septum. I have had the sceptum removed and now we have 2 girls and a boy.

When you have a septum, the fertilized egg can implant on the septum where there is lack of blood and nutrients. The baby will not thrive under these conditions. Our last loss occured when,(although she implanted in the uterus, not the septum), she had no room to grow after 24 weeks and died.

You would never know if you have a blockage or not. Even if you feel you have the perfect period with no cramps, and are bleeding every 28 days, you can still have a septum. It was worth the pain of the x-ray and surgery to have it removed, so we could have children.

Wow. how naive of me. I think I will go have the x-ray done!

How does heparin help? It is an anticoagulant. There are lots of different reasons why someone could have a miscarriage. I don't see how that medicine can help most people who have a miscarriage. This medicine is only for people who have problems with their blood clotting.
50% of women with recurent miscarriages have thrombophilia- it causes clotting associated with miscarriage.
My tests are back- I have an antithrombin 3 deficiency. Which is fine- at least there is a solution to the problem- Heparin shots- here I come!
