  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My twin nieces have been diagnosed with ADD. You get right in their face, scream their name for five minutes until they finally look around and say, "Did somebody say something?" It's like they're in their own little world and sometimes you have to literally shake them out of it....
They also have trouble forming complete sentences. I can't understand them half the time. They will also ask you the same question a million times.

Is anybody here afflicted (or blessed ;)) with ADD or ADHD?

I think I have some symptoms (seriously) and am wondering if anybody here has been diagnosed with it and received treatment.

Wanna share?

FYI, Here are symptoms of ADD / ADHD: http://www.helpguide.org/mental/adhd_add_adult_symptoms.htm

If the first step in an argument is wrong everything that follows is wrong. ~C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain

Well...I have never been officially diagnosed, but I read through the symptoms and then let my wife read through the symptoms and she said "oh yeah...you've got it" I fit 90% of the criterea for ADD.

I have three calendars (one is on my blackberry) and I still can't seem to get organized and I am constantly forgetting just about everything at some time or anthoer..no kidding when I actually remember something it is like a personal celebration of accomplishment. The problem is it seems to gradually be getting worse over time.

I'm not just being silly...I have a serious memory problem and a great deal of trouble with even small amounts of diciplined concentration and difficulty planning even simple events.

Even my pastor accused me of being ADD the other day. He said it kind of half kidding, but half serious as well.

Honestly...it has been worrying me a little because it seriously effects my responsibilities in corrdinating events. Fortunately for me, where I am at everyone is really laid back.

I am generally opposed to drug treatment for stuff like this. (I have good reason to be)

Let me know what you find out.

I am no longer afflicted with ADD, but was until I was 48. Other than prescribed amphetimines - which are scary bcause of the ever increasing dosage needed - I found distance running and painting houses with brush effective treatments. I guess something about a boring repetive physical motion over an extended time period helped to reset my brain. I don't know if the professionals have ever looked into that, but it was effective in my case.

Let's just wear defects and illness as a badge of honor..... and have a whole thread paying homage to something Jesus already bore for us. :o:doh:
who decided it was a defect? God? nope... let me see..... MAN.

I find nothing wrong with the way I was created... any more than my red hair or my stature. It is a part of me and doesn't need the blood of Christ to correct... that's just some decision man has made about the whole thing.
