Is Anger a Sin

We keep going back to the original point: If anger is a sin and Jesus got angered then he is disqualified as a savior,as a God manifest in the flesh cannot sin.

So, if anger is not a sin, what is the objection to it and is it enough to justify interfering with mens lifes?

We are free to have righteous anger, like Him. (I think that can only happen through the Holy Spirit, though...) See James 1:20.

I already said wrath and anger are two different levels.

That's right, the Bible doesn't say anger is a sin,so what is the objection?

James 1:20 in other translations,

"...because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires." NIV

"...for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God." NKJV

"For man’s anger does not promote the righteousness God [wishes and requires]." AMPC

Bible translators didn't get that memo.

This thread was started by a person who suggests men should have anger managed in a healthy way, as if it's a sickness of sort. After close examination of the Bible we can only find that anger that has been elevated to a higher level than normal (wrath) is discouraged. Anger doesn't seem to be condemned as a sin by God so I can't see support for this in a Christian perspective,only personal outlook.

Jesus was angry when he healed the guys hand and on a different occasion went through the temple driving out the merchants. On other occasions behaved different.

I think the idea to tenderise men is coming from the world and not the Bible.

True; and I have known some very angry more mature-aged women, too. But given the very different circumstances of their lives, it has tended to show up and play out in different ways.

Anger, in and of itself, is not a sin. But we can see that anger, not paired with the fruit of the Spirit (nb. love, peace, kindness, gentleness, self-control) can lead to some very damaging behaviour. Is that not worth addressing?

I live in a country where, on average, one woman a week is killed by her intimate partner or ex-partner. Would God not want the underlying causes of that sort of angry and violent outburst addressed?

I think an ''angry man'' and ''a man given to anger'' are different.

which is why no English version can be authoritative. You have to look at the original Greek.

But is that idea actually supported in the Greek text?
If not, it is not valid.

Why is being angry a problem?

There is righteous anger.. and anger that is not righteous.

I think that there are very few times in our lives where humans have the proper authority for righteous anger.

I think most times we are angry and behave in a way that is not warranted.

We know that God is always concerned about the conditions of our hearts.

Stewed anger leads to hatred. Hatred leads to "justified" persecution/murder - can be verbal with the intent to destroy, violent vengeance.

"Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer:..." I John 3:15

Gen 4:5-8.

Very prevalent in the U.S. including our news media.

Note: know a couple who agreed whenever they have a disagreement to any degree BOTH apologize before 10 p.m. (Sometimes he waits until 9:59). But this is how they apply "Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil." Eph 4.
