What are the root causes of male disenfranchisement? How do we help them manage their anger in a healthy way? How have you tackled this within yourself or with others?

Please share your thoughts.

Why is being angry a problem?

Why is being angry a problem?
Despite what I said earlier about anger being acceptable, it was not in my faith upbringing. It was considered a vile sin. So instead of allowing it to be expressed in a non-violent manner, it gets suppressed. Which means that it builds up and up until it reaches a critical mass and explodes in a most destructive way.

Alternatively, some turn it on themselves which then it becomes depression or self hatred.

that was explained as "righteous indignation," which they said was fundamentally different that the anger of fallen man.

Well we can explain anything if we put our mind to it but my Bible says he felt ''anger'' at those people trying to trap him,so?

I sometimes feel righteous anger at people who try to trap other Christians Online ;)

Exactly. In the Old Testament, God struck some people dead because He has the right to give and take life. It doesn't mean we can do the same or have the same right.

What's happened here is you tried to take your churches teachings and repackage it as authority, with the "seven deadly sins" and when I asked you what the source was,no answer. That's not a trap that's an exposure of your cathisims false teachings.

Off topic though.

Anger is not a sin. Jesus got angry.
I am still in the process of wrapping my head around that idea. The verse that started me working on it was this:

Ephesians 4:26
Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,

Oddly enough, this is in the form of a command. I take it as Paul saying it is ok to get angry, just deal with it quickly and redemptively.

I explained in our first post the difference between anger and wrath. I believe in Biblical classification anger would fall under is temptation, not actually sin. From the original temptation of anger can escalate to a more intense level, wrath or be ended by temperance/self control. Temperance is a fruit of the spirit wrath is a works of the flesh and it begins with temptation-anger.

NKJV renders that verse:
“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath,

Looks like we've come full circle :)

Well my goal here is done-clearing up the misconception that anger is not sinful. No counterargument has been presented against it so were back to where we started.

A verse to go with that,

"...human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires." James 1:20 NIV

Have you ever said or done anything while angry that you felt ashamed of or needed to apologize for later on? There’s your answer. ;-)

We’re addressing a continual form of anger that doesn’t go away.

Yes I have. I've also done things out of fear, envy, greed etc that I later regretted, things that are actually sinful. So I don't need to be in a state of anger to be in error. So why focus on anger?

Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare. —Proverbs 22:24-25

My KJV has the translation different:

24 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

I think an ''angry man'' and ''a man given to anger'' are different. An angry man implies he is in a constant state of wrath, due to his angry character. Given to anger,is what happens to all of us. Even Jesus became angry during his ministry.
