Is Adam the culprit?

Don't get me wrong--no doubt about it, "sin entered the world thru one man"(Rom.5:12). This guy and his better(?) half had everything and threw it all away, and, voila: the world as we know it!!
However, we are NOT held responsible for Adam's sin. He did pull down the curtain on Eden and introduce us to a world of sin and death. All thru Scripture the individual is held responsible for what she/he does or failed to do. Worse, at final exam time( the Day of Judgment), you and I are judged according to OUR works. There are no passages pertaining to that awesome Day where Adam's transgression is an issue. Cf.11Cor.5:10, "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad." So before we fantasize about lining up in Heaven to each give Adam a good, swift kick--look to thyself. God bless, Al

I'm curious, do you think that what your works are being judged for is to determine whether you are worthy to inherit eternal life?

We have already heard the liberating word of the Gospel when thru faith we are declared in rt standing with God. Paul describes our status as "no condemnation". However, justifying faith leads to works of rts that demonstrate our faith NOW and at judgment are publicly verified and bring reward for us consistent with our service. Justification is eschatological--that is it brings the future into our present experience in an intial way, tho the fullness of our salvation is still future. God bless, al

Okay.  Sounds good to me.  If I understand you right I'd have to say that I agree.

God bless

Hi Ref! Er, that was too easy...I figured if you were a Calvinist that you believed one way or another we are all held accountable for Adam's guilt as well as our own. Eg, the Westminster Conf: " By this sin [Adam & Eve] fell from their original rts and communion with God, and so became dead in sin...the GUILT of this sin was imputed and the same death in sin and corrupted nature conveyed to all their posterity." Also Chas Hodge argues as much in volume II, p.227 of his excellent Syst. Theology. So, 'sup? Al
