Is $450,000 enough for each illegal immigrant separated from family?

It seems to me that you've expressed that the situation was immorally implemented, but when pressed to explain why you became evasive and in the process basically put me down for questioning what you were saying.

And to think me being an American citizen born and raised here had to sign an affidavit of support for my wife and two daughters to come here from the Philippines promising that I take full financial responsibility for them and no matter what we are not allowed to accept any kind of government assistance until they become a US citizen which takes at least 10 years or I can be sued in court. But hey they could’ve just came over illegally and we could’ve got $450,000. Uhhh don’t I feel so stupid for doing it THE LEGAL WAY.

Yet again...all I know is what I have read about the matter (one example which I linked and presumably you have read) and there certainly seems to be a prima facie case against the government. Or at least the previous incumbents. But I will not be drawn into an argument about the merits of any particular case because, and read this a couple of times if necessary, there is scant information on the actual details of any case being brought.

Yet again...feel free to present any argument for or against what you perceive to be the situation. I'm sure someone might be interested.

Yeah this makes sense to me, how are things any different now pertaining to parents being arrested in general? If me and my wife are arrested my children go to a foster home. So why would that be any different for illegal immigrants?

You made several comments criticizing what had already transpired (past tense, not present tense or future tense). But when pressed to explain your criticism, you became evasive and in the process basically put me down for questioning what you were saying. It seems to me the answer to my questions should have been something like, "I don't really know, I just don't like what I've heard/read about it".

There's probably not a single situation most anywhere around the world, where children aren't separated from incarcerated parents and put in a shelter. If there is a precedent where such hasn't been the case, I haven't seen it.

These children were not just separated. Poor records have delayed or prevented reunification with their parents. This is not equal to to incarcerated parents whose children are placed with other family members or foster care.

@Bradski asks for evidence then doesn't look at it.

Just so everyone knows. He did this on this very thread. I suggest you ignore his pleas for evidence completely.

And now you can do some reading to find out who many of these children are, and how they're being exploited:
"In his work as a border control agent in Yuma, Ariz., from 1994 until 2019, Michael Gramley saw traffickers “providing” children to unrelated adults so they could more easily gain entry into the US.

“It was, ‘You don’t have a kid? I’ll provide a kid,’ ” he told me.

When adults reach their destination in the US, they return the child to traffickers, who send the child “back to Guatemala and repeat the cycle.” And those are the lucky ones. Gramley said many of these children eventually end up being forced to work in the US sex industry, often in prostitution or child pornography.
How Biden’s border policy will increase child sex trafficking to US

Why would you expect these "parents" to ever be found, unless they're given hundreds of thousands of dollars to come back and claim a sex-trafficked child, and then be able to sell the child again. A real money-making scheme for the traffickers if biden gets his way.

Around the world, I don't think separated kids are always placed in foster homes. I agree it would probably have been best if the children had been sent back to family members, if possible. But I'm pretty sure there would have been a lot of protesting over them being denied any chance immigration by being deported.

I think you're missing the point regarding this issue, which is "orange man bad".

Seems to be the underlying narrative of every issue these days.

Sorry, I didn't know you had evidence on the court cases. My bad. Let's see what the details are so we can all discuss it.

Let me know when you have anything at all to say about the cases in question. Anything at all. We'll all be keen to find out what you know.

So everything that has already transpired which led up to the cases in question is moot?

You're in the wrong thread to talk about immigration policy. This thread is about the specific cases where large sums of money have been suggested might be granted to certain families as compensation for what happened to them and their children.

Maybe you want to place some blame on the families themselves which will somehow mitigate what happened to their children. Maybe to suggest it was justified. Who knows. You aren't saying. But you don't need me to do that. You can do that all on your own. Someone might be interested in reading it.

You don't look at evidence.

Pretty difficult to do so when none has been supplied. Do you happen to have any at all regarding the cases under discussion? Nobody else seems to have any.
